There are plenty of threads moaning about a useless foul, a meaningless last second touchdown or someother lament about how they were screwed out of a solid middle. We never hear about the banked in 3, or late score that brought home the gut shot middle. I will dig thru my archives and find my miricle(funny how I don't remember these either after I chalk them up) and lets see where the most farfetched middle landed.
Going back 20 some years I remember an incident when I had a middle made with about 1 second to go in an NBA game. Philadelphia 76er guard Mo Cheeks gets fouled for no real resaon, back then bonus fouls were 3 to make 2. I lose the middle if Mo makes 1 (still a side though), or 2. A very good free throw shooter, Mo proceeded to brick all three thus saving my middle.

Miami/FSU this past season
has the crimicanes +7 for the game. they are way up at half - so i figure "WTF" and let's try and cash 2 tix on 1 game.
so i take FSU the 2nd half hoping miami doesn't do much since it is raining and the field is slop.
sure enough - miami does next to nothing the 2nd half. problem is FSU does just about the same until they put on a final drive.
FSU throws about a 20-yard TD pass on the LAST play of the game to cover the 2nd half and give me a nice middle.

Not from my records but I remember Reggie Miller drilling a 3 to beat Boston(I think) by 1 at the buzzer for a stone cold middle. I was tracking the game online and thought it would go under or to OT. So no middle for me unless Reggie does his majic. Speaking of Reggie I think that is the only time in his life he helped me win a bet.

i had calgary +150 to win the series over vancouver.
headed to G6 - i took van +150 figuring if cal won - i would win 1/2 unit on the series. if van won G6 and G7 - i would win the same 1/2 unit - so it was a no lose bet. the worst i would do is win 1/2 unit.
the best i would do is win 3 units if van won G6 and cal won G7 (and the series).
