"The Longest Yard" remake in the works..Doesn't sound promising..

*The classic 1974 football flick "The Longest Yard,'' which starred Burt Reynolds, will be remade, Daily Variety reports, with Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions involved. The remake likely will involve "boosting the comedy angles, bringing in contemporary elements such as the Internet and possibly partnering with Paramount-based MTV Films with an eye to casting urban music stars,'' the report said. Sandler will not star in the movie.

The Longest Yard was a classic and a remake won't come close to the original. If they ever remake Blazing Saddles I"m going to bomb the studio in protest.

I can just see a bunch of damn rappers in there playing the roles of the originals.. No way they can make a decent remake.

I hope Sandler doesn't play the role that Burt Reynolds had. That would be a disaster.

I'm trying to think who would be good in that role today......

Hopefully, Burt gets at least a cameo.

They say Sandler won't be in it, but, i can't see anyone else really. Hell, i can't see anyone playing the guards, the coach, none of them. It was a classic man, they should just leave it alone. They won't though, but, i can't imagine who would play that role..

Totally agree UB. I can't rhink of any remakes that are better than the original.

Sequels, yes! Aliens, T2, Star Trek II come to mind but not remakes.

How the hell can you remake this classic...The Longest Yard was one of the best if not the best movie ever made that involved football...Not only who would play Reynolds part, but the warden was portrayed beautifully by whats his name....

Eddie Albert, I finally thought of it...God I am going to watch this movie right now...What a frickin clasic....

If they do make a remake it cant be any worse than Major League 2...That has to be the worse movie EVER!!!!
