The BC Lions are terrible this evening, particularly on offence and specifically the passing game. You know as I watch Geroy Simon play, I've come to the conclusion that although he is a great receiver in this league, he simply refuses to take one for the team.
By that I'm referring to him shying away from attempting to make a circus catch for the team when he hears footsteps. This point was particularly noticeable in the first half when he appeared to letup on a huge play or catch that would have put his team within scoring range. As it turned out, the Lions ended up punting the ball back to Montreal.
The Als jumped out to their usual fast start and really have done little since, although they did score a second half TD moments ago.
I think the turning point in this game so far came in that opening quarter when Duval bounced an attempted field goal off the goalpost and the Als regained possession because the Lions were called for roughing the kicker. The replay clearly showed it was a terrible call on the referee's part (#22), who was standing right next to the pair. Montreal went on to score their second major of the game.
At the current moment, it looks as though the Alouettes are on their way to an important road win, meaning a split on their two-game road trip. The Eskimoes salvaged a split as well on their two-game trip East with a victory over Hamilton in Steeltown.
