it's trading at 105 meaning a 35 million dollar weekend. I think it might even go higher than that. At first the buzz was week due to the lame trailers but the new ones are better and I think the buzz is getting stronger. Although swordfighting flicks don't usually bring in the big bucks, maybe Tom Cruise will?

Yeah, tough call. It's getting great reviews... but only seems to appeal to the male crowd.

Minority Report had a surprisingly low opening, not sure why it only took 35 million with Stephen Speilberg and Cruise attached to a quality sci-fi flick. MI opened in May and Minority Report opened in June, but still.

Minority Report 35.6 million
Vanilla Sky 25
MI2 57.9
Eyes Wide Shut 21.7
MI 45.4
Interview with the Vampire 36.3

Braveheart 6.3

13th Warrior 10.2
The mask of Zorro 22.5
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves 25.6, '91

yeah I don't know this one is going to do between 25-40 million. Although 40 is starting to look unlikely, it is #10 on moviefone already so that might indicate at least 30 million? did Scary movie debut on monday? at #7 or something?

Judging by the audience composition at the showtime last night, I'd look for a Low 30's opening. I didn't see a single teenager in the theatre.

That shouldn't matter though. It's so good, almost every adult who likes movies will surely see it by January 15th, and it'll spread into the Teen audience like Pirates once word gets out as to how fuking brilliant the action scenes are. It's also a good movie for girls, the love story is very subtle but very romantic. It's an all around crowd pleaser.

My sneak was sold out last night, 40 minutes before the show. So we had to sneak in. I think me and my 2 friends were the only teens in the theater, but the audience loved it, they were really into it. A very big applause followed the movie too.

Seriously, look at the outline.... it's Dances With Wolves in Japan.

yeah, you maybe right. thing is it's getting somewhat great reviews and might benefit from that. Seems to me for some reason like a movie a lot of people might be itching to see, its #4 on the anticipated list, but without the teens it might not do so hot, Tom pushin' 50 and all. Kill Bill was high on that list and didn't break any records. dunno maybe 32

it's buzz score actually fell what 4 points today, what's up with that? it's score(13) has been similar to Master and Commander, but I'm sure it's gonna do more than 25 million... Even though Master and Commander had at least 15 at this point I think... Cat in the Hat had what 18 points? this chart is becoming useless. The only things that might indicate over 25 million is the anticipating rankings, and the msn movies mesage borad, wich has 74 posts now,

actually, looking back a the Master and Commander thead, it looks like it wasn't on the chart at all around this time approaching release, but I do remember it followed the same pattern, it was on there at one point for somewhere around 12 points and then dropped off for some reason, then crept back on.

don't like either of the lines up at WSEX. flip a coin. Even with only around 2000 theaters Honey is the type of movie that can easily go over 12 million, but, it's at -150, and, I haven't checked but I think it's getting terrible reviews, which may or may not assuade it's urban audience.

And I guess I'd lean to the under for Samurai but there's too many indicators for the over as well.

I've been pondering the wsex lines and I just can't make up my mind. Hmm. I'm going to wait and see what Intertops puts up.

sounds like the Last Samurai and Honey are both doing very well. Saw Samurai, great movie, if you liked Braveheart you'll like this one. Thought it was one of the best movies all year. Wasn't too crowded, maybe 70% full at 6:40, which isn't prime-time and this theater doesn't get exceptional business, but the crowd was definitely skewed to the older peeps and you know what that means.

Looks like Samuria will do about 26 million. (I think) HOney 12.5 - 13 million.
