You get the drift. This is it my first ever post selecting games. Lets get right to the method.

Star picks are from 1 to 4. I play all of my own picks and will show that in each post. Personally I do $25 per star.

I won't make many picks in fact I may skip a week or 2.

Since this is a first I may make mistakes regarding rules and how I should be exactly doing this. Just post a note here and I will correct and follow going forward.

Ok here we go. There is only 1 selection this week.

Boise State -14 over UConn. 4 stars
I've watched UConn closely over the 2 years and they have been abysmal. They lost their first 9 games last year before winning their last 3 against pretty bad teams. This year its a new coach, new QB and very few returning starters. They have started the season pretty much as expected and struggled. Boise is getting into its stride the first 2 weeks. They can score points and thats not looking like it will change here.
I bought the 2 points. Hoping thats allowed here. If not let me know and I will adjust. Like I said I will bet my own plays and show the work.

This one jumped of the page at me also, I watched Boise last week, and their offence has a lot of weapons and balanced especially in the red zone ... and their run defense is really improved.

No need to talk about last week. You saw it. We all saw it. Time to move onto bigger things.

Boise State -14 over La-Lafayette. 4 stars
I break all the sacred rules with this one. Yes I know I am betting back on the same team. I know that team played poorly and got huge luck. I am buying 2 points once again - a serious no no. I am sure there is more I am just missing so let me know.
Here is the analysis. Boise at home is not Boise on the road. Also the new Boise coach got blasted by La-La last year. This should be motivation. But the biggest factor has to be La-La getting blown out by La Tech. They've turned the ball over a lot and if Boise has done something well its convert turnovers. This is La-La's first trip to the high altitude and it may be a factor. If you add it all up Boise could realistically get 50 points. That should be more than enough to cover the 14. I just can't find even 1 reason why Boise will not light up the scoreboard. The D has been spotty but if they get some turnovers it should be over early.

Week 5 doesn't present much to me. A lot of heavy faves and a lot of them iffy teams like Kentucky and Boston Col. There is one game that strikes me. Fla State at NC State. We all know what Fla State can do. They are a team capable of big things and they have yet to play to that level. Look we all know Fla State HAS to make the final 4 and to do that they may need a blow out game or 2 to make it in. NC State meanwhile is 4-0 against hideous competition. Lets forget NC State here they are meaningless. Its all about FSU and will they decide to get that blowout win. I feel like its time they get this done. I'm only going 1 star here. Maybe FSU will decide to pour it on at a later date.

you can look at a loss in 2 ways. you made a really stupid bet that has no excuse. or you can bet Fla State who scores 56 points. is there ever a chance you will lose such a bet? well it happens thats why I looked at this as 1 star. Fla State is not themselves or maybe they just aren't that good this year. Its starting to look like the later.

anyway if you've followed rushmania you're far far ahead. lets hope week 6 brings us some good lines to beat.

Nice to start off week 6 already presenting us with some great lines. One jumps right off the page for me so I am getting it now.

Northwestern +9.5 over Wisconsin 3 stars

Everything about this screams even match up - at worst! Maybe even an edge here for Northwestern. The Cats are coming off a convincing win at Penn State. Wisconsin has nothing like that on its games played to date. If you just look at Wisconsin final scores nothing really jumps out. But they have struggled a lot this year. LSU was a collapse that should never have happened. Then the high school schedule kicked in. Yet they struggled first half against both W Ill and last week against weak South Fla. And these were home games. Northwestern defense against the run has been decent and if you can give Wisconsin trouble on the ground the weak passing game gets even worse. Even with Northwestern's mediocre play Wisconsin has not faced anyone near this good in a month now. And that last Northwestern game really does stand out. This should be the confidence builder to come home and play well. I think they outplay Wisconsin and have a good chance to win outright.

USC -12 over Arizona State 3 stars

If you are looking for 2 teams going in opposite directions here you go. USC dominated Oregon State in all phases of the game. And its not like SC has suddenly woken up this year. A great win at Stanford and a blasting of Fresno proves this out. It seems people are putting too much stock in the clunker at Boston College which plays right into our hand. Meanwhile Zona State just got ambushed by UCLA giving up 62 points and about 600 yards. Thats not good especially since UCLA was their first tough opponent this year. Important to add the revenge factor. I'm not a big fan of it because it usually doesn't transpire but we should see it here with the embarrassment of last years game. If anything SC scores a lot of points and that alone should be enough to cover the 12. Add in the rest and we have a blow out.

Well that sucked. So Cal just could not stop the pass today. The 9 point lead late gave some hope if the D could get a turnover. As for the revenge angle I am officially through with it. Can't tell you how many times it has not worked lately. Lets move onto week 7.

Temple -14.5 over Tulsa 4 stars

I don't normally head down to the lower level conferences but could not resist here. In what category DOESN'T Temple have an edge? Temple has won 3 of its 4 games impressively including a 37-7 win over SEC Vanderbilt. Certainly nothing Tulsa has on its record so far. Temple scores at a high rate and passes the ball well. Tulsa has one of the worst pass defenses in the country. Temple is off a rest from last week Tulsa got trounced at Collie State. But the biggest factor in this game is the turnover margin. Temple is forcing multiple turnovers a game and Tulsa is a mistake machine these days. Temple at home rested against a well traveled maybe tired Tulsa team means more of the same and it won't take many to turn this one into a blowout. I bought it down to 14.5 just in case. One thing I have always noted is how many games land on between 14 and 18 points. There are some pretty common numbers in there. If Temple has even a little trouble I may buy myself a win. But look for this current trend to continue with these teams.

As promised and what all of you stayed up all night for... TIER RATED SELECTIONS!

Tier 1 selection - 1 star
Miami -17 over Cincinnati
Miami at home should not have to punt today. They can run and throw on this team at will. That should be enough to cover this by 20+ points.

Tier 2 selection - 1 star
TCU + 7.5 over Baylor
There are a million reasons to take TCU here. Tougher sched, better wins, past history, a huge spread to an unbeaten team, and on and on. It should be close. It will be close.

Tier 3 selection - 1/2 star
Indiana +3 over Iowa
Indy is quite the up and down team. I predict they are up today and an up Indy team is a better team by far than Iowa. Iowa doesn't score much and I don't expect them to keep pace today.

Tier 4 selection - 1/2 star
Purdue + 20 over Michigan State
I predict Mich State to come out flat here just like they did last year against this team. Mich State has not proven itself on the road this year and that 20 spot is a bit too high.
