Today i called in a bet for the oakland A's and i said oakland twice, i heard the recording when i called up customer service. When she read the play back she said angels I was busy at the time and did not hear and confirmed the wager. The night manger said the wager will stay. What do u guys think i like the site, but i clearly said oakland twice.

The clerk is getting paid to put the correct bet in the system, not check his/her text messages on thier cell phone, watch tv, ect, while the player is saying he wants the Mets, and the clerk punches in the Dodgers.
Try explaining your theory to the agent who has had that player for 10 years..."Well sir, its clear the player said the Mets for 10,000, but my clerk was a little distracted by something, so they put the Dodgers instead, ok? have a great day"
If the clerk can't do the only thing that they're getting paid to do, you can't spin that back onto the the player.
The player wants to get down, and get off the phone.

Just got off the phone with the day manager and he gave me $100 back, half of my $200 wager.Still sucks should of been plus 175 instead of -100.

Sounds hardass but if Angels win we never hear a word from most of these guys. Pros/shot takers do it all the time, they hear the readback is wrong but go along with it so they can try to play both sides. Had Angels won the player demands that the readback and subsequent confirmation stands as per the rules. If Oakland wins........well I don't need to tell you what happens, just read the thread. Rules are in place for a reason, not to make it hard, just to make it fair for the books.

I think you're absolutely correct.... Readbacks have their reason of existence, otherwise, it would be just the annoying ending of the call

Anyway this case is settled, just posted to make players aware that your call is not over nor are any bets official until the readback is done. Make damned sure it is correct before you confirm. Most books are very clear on this just to avoid a situation like happened here. Being as the Greek is one of the best books on the planet (other than baseball) they gave him the benefit of the doubt, most won't.
