I go back quite a few years in age, as I remember vividly how the New York Knicks defeated the more talented Los Angeles Lakers way back in 1970, when their star Center, Willis Reed, was hobbling around the court...

However, I will go on record as saying that last night's Laker/Spurs game had the best ending in NBA history...

I have seen one miracle shot go in many times, but I cannot remember ever seeing two MIRACULOUS and VERY LUCKY shots end the game in the fashion it did last night!

As Shaquille O'Neal said perfectly, "ONE LUCK SHOT DESERVES ANOTHER" AND OH WAS HE RIGHT!!

Do others agree?

The shot by Duncan was maybe the greatest clutch shot I've ever seen. He had a second left, and was blanketed by Shaq. He nails a fall-away with Shaq in his face from the top of the key. This is a guy that has trouble with free throws. What a warrior Duncan is.

Given the EXACT same circumstances again, what are the ODDS that both players would make those consecutive shots?

I have to agree with you that I have never seen two shots like those two ! The final score would indicate an ugly game but those two shots will never be forgotten.

That could be one of the greatest endings in history...I do not recall any better in recent memory

It's not pro, but for sheer excitement and clutchness, I would put Duke-Kentucky in the regional final WAY above this one. The whole game was well played, unlike this one, the last 10 seconds were pretty incredible, Sean Woods nails a runner off the glass, they call TO, and then Laettner hits the turnaround after the fullcourt pass. Throw in the fact that it was a one and done situation and that beats the hell out of this in my book.

based on my avatar, you realize i am biased on this question, but i Think Reggie scoring 9 points in the last 10 seconds of a game at Madison Square Garden in front of spike lee to beat the Knicks was about the best i ever saw....one player scoring 9 points in 10 seconds, with a steal to boot, was amazing..

In most parts of the world, that "steal" is called a foul.

But, let me make one thing clear, I hate New York with a passion, and they got you back with that 4 point play by Larry Johnson in the playoffs...nice "continuation"!!!

Its right at the top, a half a second that will never be forgotten...And in all likelyhood gave L.A. the NBA title instead of San Antonio...

Shaq`s line was classic..I didn`t think the Big Fella had that kind of off the cuff wit.

Usually Shaq`s interviews are very boring, he downplays everything...Shaq looked like he was in shock on the bench after Duncan`s facial...

you couldn't be more wrong? when they beat the spurs, is the minny/sac winner gonna beat them? uh, NO WAY!

in the finals - whoever wins the WNBA title (a.k.a. - the (l)eastern conference) will be nothing more than cannon fodder for the lakers. i can't see the finals going more than 6 - and most likely ending in 5 (if the pacers make it - the lakers split - at worst - in indy then do what no team has EVER done - sweep the middle 3 at home). if it is anyone else - and the lakers have HCA, the lakers win the first 2 in LA, and if they don't win 2 of 3 in the (l)eatern winner's HC - they will at worst be up 3-2 and clinch it in 6.

for all of the talk about how the (l)eastern conf winner could win it all this season - wonder if those same people have popped up lately and seen just how TERRIBLE that conference is - and how the west winner will slice thru them like a hot knife thru butter.

Shrink..I will agree with you..Last nights ending and fourth quarter is why..I LOVE THIS GAME..

I was present at the Knick party in the Garden when they beat the Lakers..It was a great game, watching Stallworth play center, and Frazier work his artistry..This game was better, because the chess match at the end of the game played by both coaches was brilliant..

The .04..3 timeouts before the play was run..Both times when Duncan and Fisher hit their shots..the D..was in their faces..Great theatre..

This Phil Jackson is the luckiest guy on the planet..When Duncan hit the shot Phil didnt even flinch..He has been down this road so many times, he knows to experience the twists that may come..

I sat in my home and was stuck to the moment..How about all those players that had Lakers+ 5 1/2 in the second..

Tonight 2 more gems headin our way..Lets sit back and enjoy..

Best game (ending) ever was the Phoenix-Boston game 6 finals game when Gar Heard hit the shot to put it in an extra overtime. It was about 1976.

Lakers - Spurs isn't because I like my teams to get at least 160 points.
