Now at 2,997, Jeter would be the first, perhaps fitting for the only player to reach the milestone having spent his entire career as a member of the Yankees. Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, DiMaggio and Berra didn’t get nearly as close as Jeter, the team’s career hits leader and one of the most popular players in history. And now, he’s just three solid swings from standing alone among the Yankees’ legion of Hall of Fame

CLASS ACT, reminds me of Joltin Joe, how his image is clean and he's a tough nosed player who leads by exmaple.DJ is 1st bllot HOF and a fine example to young kids today on how to work hard ,play hard, but stay out oftrouble. Rare for sports stars, especially in NYC!!

Congrats on 250 career HRs

NEW YORK (AP) -- Derek Jeter stood by his locker and smiled with satisfaction. He hit his 250th home run, and it helped the New York Yankees pick up a win. Over the Boston Red Sox.
''I always see all the time: He doesn't hit home runs. Blah, blah, blah,'' he said. ''I think it's a lot. I'll take it.''
Willie Mays and Jeter are the only players with 3,000 hits, 250 homers, 300 steals and 1,200 RBIs.
''He's an amazing player,'' Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. ''He's 38 years old. He's played 15 days in a row. There aren't too many 38-year-old guys who play 15 days in a row.''
