Of course your right, it is Zeke. I first saw West at the old Boston Garden, in the late 50's, when the Lakers and Celtics did battle. West and Elgin Baylor were something to watch. Mr. Clutch is another West nickname.

Both Big O and West were great ones. No way to say one better than the other, in my opinion. Couldn't go wrong with either!

Not to be anal, but it was in the early 60's that you first saw West against the Celtics. WVU played for the national championship in the '59-'60 season (West's junior year), falling one point short against Darrell Imhoff's California squad.

Those were the days, my friend!!

Wil, he actually made 22-22 in the Memphis St game but at that time you couldnt dunk. He made the "miss" but he dropped it in the bucket and tipped his fingers forward thus ruled offensive goaltending or some other nonsense......ScottyS

The Admiral is an underrated college player, it was him and four short guys advancing every year in the NCAA's. He was quadrupled at times, eventually they faced a team that could figure out how to win 5 on 1.

I do not think he belongs on that or any list, just think he was a better college player than most consider.

I am sure you are right, I may have seen Baylor in 59 (when the Lakers were sill in Minnesota), then again in 61-62 the two greats, Baylor and West, along with Rudy Larusso, Dick Barnett, Hot Rod Hundley, and coach Fred Schauss. The Celts beat the Lakers in the 1961-62 season finals in 7 hard fought games, the final game in Boston Garden was a classic. Those were some of the best days of my youth spent watching the Celts, Bruins, and Red Sox.
