It's already started.

WASHINGTON — President-elect Donald J. Trump, who campaigned against the corrupt power of special interests, is filling his transition team with some of the very sort of people who he has complained have too much clout in Washington: corporate consultants and lobbyists.
Jeffrey Eisenach, a consultant who has worked for years on behalf of Verizon and other telecommunications clients, is the head of the team that is helping to pick staff members at the Federal Communications Commission.

Michael Catanzaro, a lobbyist whose clients include Devon Energy and Encana Oil and Gas, holds the “energy independence” portfolio.
Michael Torrey, a lobbyist who runs a firm that has earned millions of dollars helping food industry players such as the American Beverage Association and the dairy giant Dean Foods, is helping set up the new team at the Department of Agriculture.

Mr. Trump was swept to power in large part by white working-class voters who responded to his vow to restore the voices of forgotten people, ones drowned out by big business and Wall Street. But in his transition to power, some of the most prominent voices will be those of advisers who come from the same industries for which they are being asked to help set the regulatory groundwork.

The president-elect’s spokeswoman, Hope Hicks, declined a request for comment, as did nearly a dozen corporate executives, consultants and lobbyists serving on his transition team, which was outlined in a list distributed widely in Washington on Thursday.

“This whole idea that he was an outsider and going to destroy the political establishment and drain the swamp were the lines of a con man, and guess what — he is being exposed as just that,” said Peter Wehner, who served in the administrations of Ronald Reagan and George Bush before becoming a speechwriter for George W. Bush. “He is failing the first test. And he should be held accountable for it.”

“This is one of the reasons you had such anger among voters — people rigging the system, gaming the system,” Mr. Freed said. “This represents more of the same.”

Trump Picks Top Climate Skeptic to Lead EPA Transition. No surprise given that the Donald tweeted that Global Warming was created by the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.

Donald Trump is rumored to appoint Myron Ebell, a climate change denier, as head of the Environmental Protection Agency. Ebell serves as the director of the Center for Energy and Environment at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, and he’s currently heading President-Elect Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency transition process. Politico reports that Ebell himself will likely become the new head of the EPA. While nothing official has been announced by the Trump campaign, the appointment of Ebell would represent a dramatic shift in the United States’ environmental policies.

Myron Ebell and Donald Trump both believe that global warming is not actually a serious issue that the United States should attempt to address in any way. In fact, he chairs the Cooler Heads Coalition, a group that fights what they refer to as global warming alarmism. This group explains on its website that it’s focused on “dispelling the myths of global warming by exposing flawed economic, scientific, and risk analysis.”

Ebell does concede that the planet has gotten warmer in recent years, but he thinks that this is normal and that scientists are being alarmist.

“There has been a little bit of warming, but it’s been very modest and well within the range for natural variability, and whether it’s caused by human beings or not, it’s nothing to worry about,” he told Vanity Fair.

Nearly every reputable scientist refutes this statement, agreeing that the climate has changed due to man-made activity. The planet saw a spike in temperature in the last 30 years not seen in at least the past 1,000 years said NASA’s Gavin Schmidt.

NASA is not reliable nor are the scientists of global warming.

See the scientists have to prove what they are studying is true or not so they can get more money from people who fund them. So to think that said scientists don't skew things is obtuse as they need the money to keep coming in so they can justify themselves and keep their positions..

BZ you do know scientists and NASA have been caught changing the numbers to fit the agenda they want...

Global warming has not been proven. For one it is too small a sample size to prove without doubt.
The earth has warmed and cooled for millions of years without us.
Numbers have been changed by NASA or skewed by scientists...

All of these are facts...

The only fact T Hawk is that nearly every reputable scientist has concurred. And even if you don't agree, what benefit does it serve to deny? The Hoaxers and Trump are be backed by the coal and oil industries for their agenda. How does that benefit you, the country or the world environment?

LOL dude you are a total fool for believing that the line in bold because that is just not true...
Go and do some more research that is not CNN or the like and get back to me.

I have also had many interesting conversations about how research works with a chemistry professor at Harvard and I have outlined what he has told me as fact when it comes to scientific research in general and global warming research specifically and how it works...

Also tell me this: James Lovelock know who he is? If not look him up, tell me what he did, and get back to me...

You believe what you want to believe and I will believe the vast majority if research conducted in the US and abroad. Lovelock had his opinion and his theories with the Gaia effect.

You still didn't answer my question about what benefit is there to you in denying the science?

The left is simply delusional and undignified, what more can be said

We just suffered through 8 years of suck, so the working man went out to vote and said fuck you assholes. No get out the vote ground game, no buses, no free concerts, no riots, they just came home from work and went to vote, no excuses.

You failed, you lost, now go get jobs before daddy cuts off your allowance

That's an intelligent post. And this has nothing to do with the left. Again, I am independent and don't subscribe to any party's agenda. Point being is that given what Trump has said, his presidency will be a disaster and it has already started with whom he is appointing and considering appointing to his cabinet.

Myron Ebell is a terrible choice... if you care about the environment both here and abroad. I can only surmise you don't.

This post started by a guy who says Obama pulled the troops out of Iraq, but its Bush's fault for pulling the troops out of Iraq.

Pretty close to DaFinch level

I've posted my views on 2 billion years of climate change numerous times, including in a respectful response to you yesterday.

I'm disrespectful here because the premise of the thread is both stupid and disrespectful. I'm not trying to be intelligent, although intelligence does ooze from my pores

I don't mind good conversation and will welcome that as we track progress. Nothing personal. There are many things that he said that concern me as an American. And there are names he is throwing around that are on the far right that concern me. I miss the old republican party before it was high jacked and although he promised to clean the swamp so to speak, it doesn't appear that way. Thus I simply want to track it here. Perhaps I could have given the thread a different name- but we will see.

Do you have your tracking thread from Obama in 2008 and 2012? Can you link it so we can track how you did there?

Or is this simply a partisan thing?

I do not and not a partisan thing. I want to be clear that given the results, Obama was an average at best president but certainly not the worst as many have and were claiming. I actually did not vote for Obama either time.

I do have a big concern with Trump with what he said, how he has said it and truly the lack of self discipline, knowledge and intelligence needed for the office.

There are a whole group of reputable scientists who also agree that global warming is unproven. Are they not to be believed?

I am denying that it is a fact as it has not been incontrovertibly proven, has nothing to do with benefit has to do with facts.
I have done a lot of research on this. Gaia effect? Really? You are going there, lol... So you are saying Lovelock and his reseach is bull then?
You know who used or uses Lovelock as his guru? Al Gore guess he has no clue what he is talking about?

Are you denying that NASA has not changed numbers to fit the presidents agenda?
Are you denying that scientists who say their is global warming have not skewed data also to try and prove it?
Are you denying that academic scientists have an agenda to prove things true or not so they can keep getting funding?

I do agree with term limits, the end of career politicians, and lobbyists as well. I also would welcome real and substantial change. I don't think either one of our choices could deliver that but I do feel Donald can do far greater damage than Hillary that's all.

So, why no Obama thread? You were here back then, and Obama said a lot of the same things about getting rid of lobbyists and cleaning up Washington. And thats what this thread is about.
