CNSNews.com) - 11.4 million Americans age 16 and over have left the workforce since President Obama took office in January 2009, according to data released today from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

In July 2014, there were 92,001,000 Americans, 16 and over, who were classified as “not in the labor force,” meaning they not only did not have a job, but they didn’t actively seek one in the last four weeks.

This number has increased by 11,472,000 since January 2009, when the number of Americans not in the labor force was 80,529,000.

The unemployment rate increased from 6.1 percent in June to 6.2 percent in July.

the horrific labor participation rates is the only thing allowing Obama and the democrats to sell their spin with respect to unemployment reality

if he were a Republican, each and every report would be prefaced with "if the LPR remained constant", unemployment would be 10.5% yada yada yada

I'd suggest the unemployed shift their efforts towards finding government-related work! I've never worked for a government agency, but figured the benefits included a retirement program, vacation days, sick days...the standard package. Imagine my surprise though when I discovered another perk I didn't even know was included!

http://www.theblaze.com/blog/2014/08/01/report-federal-workers-turning-to-porn-when-bored-at-work/

A report from the Washington Times indicates that federal workers across various federal agencies don’t have enough to do, and are surfing online pornography at work.
An examination of documents the Times obtained through the Freedom of Information Act said one Federal Communications Commission worker told officials that he was bored and watched porn for up to eight hours a week.
In another case, a Treasury official went on a porn binge after having little else to do.
“He stated he is aware it is against government rules and regulations, but he often does not have enough work to do and has free time,” investigators wrote in documents the Times obtained.

Wow! Government waste? What government waste?

"I didn't have enough to do" is the end result of the idiotic New Deal mindset when FDR used to pay workers to dig a ditch one day and fill it back up the next day...you keep people on the payroll who add zero value to your work environment. It's kind of like the movie Office Space..."What would you say it is...you, like, do here?" If your answer is you hardly have enough to do, then why the fuck are we paying you to be here? My cousin interned at NASA for a few summers back in the day and told me his schedule there: get in around 9:30, read the paper for an hour, flirt with a few secretaries, say hi to his buddies...then it's time for a coffee break.

This government has become such a red tape monstrosity that I doubt one single person in this country could explain what each department even does anymore. So, sleep well tonight...knowing worthless pencil pushers are grabbing their pencil-thin peckers while gawking at online porn...all while getting paid by your tax-payer dime.

I started to laugh at what your cousin told you. I’ve had a few jobs in the private sector that sounded remarkably the same. The difference of course was those companies actually made money in spite of themselves. And all of those companies didn’t take government loans and then go bankrupt.

I am diametrically opposed to big government. Having said that if I were king, I would privatize any government agencies that were actually needed and do away with the rest.

Without giving it much thought I would expect to do away with 90% of the agencies through consolidation and rest because they don’t need to exist.

I would ultimately give the States autonomy to do whatever the deemed necessary.

I’d even drop a bomb on the Congress by imposing term limits, changing judge appointments to elections also with term limits and that would include the Supreme Court.

Then I would sit back and let America do what it does best, prosper.

Guys I don't care if you're Right/Left/Center it matters little to me. You have views, you care about this country and have an opinion about what should be done to make America prosper. But I watched this knucklehead's press conference this afternoon. And it should be clearly obvious to anyone that the man in the White House is so far removed from reality that it's both frightening and bewildering at the same time.

I watched it also. To hear him speak everything here is peaches and cream. But it could be soooo much more if it weren’t for those nasty Republicans that won’t work with him.

As for the world, he is working as hard as he can for peace around the world and so is Kerry. It’s a hard job but that won’t stop him.

To his credit he did say Israel has a right to defend itself but said they should find a way to make nice with Hamas.

The rest was just your average boiler plate rhetoric we’ve heard over and over.

And in an ironic moment he blasted Congress for going on vacation without passing a immigration bill that he admitted he wouldn’t sign anyway. Later the House did it's job and passed a bill but the Senate is nowhere to be found.

Dave bad weather here today so my destroyed elbow is aching like crazy. But listening to this guy speak, attempt to reason and then chuckle made me move the icepack from my arm to the top of my head.

Scotty, I think he has packed it in. He knows whatever he wants to do is DOA. I think he also knows the mid terms are not going to go well for his party.

Maybe he needs a vacation.

You mean you'd actually limit the federal government to only their 18 enumerated powers, then let each individual state operate independently...as is all outlined in the Constitution? Why you...you monster, you!

As far as the NASA red tape, yep...the same thing happens to private corporations as they become bigger. It's just the inherent nature of diminishing returns...the more people you've got to supervise, the harder it is to ensure waste doesn't creep in. The difference is, of course, that corporations aren't funded by public money like the government. No corporations have guaranteed indefinite revenue streams like Uncle Sam does.

Oh, and btw Scott...you find Obama to be an elitist, out of touch, aloof and clueless? Welcome to 2008.

Yeah, enumerated powers, what a new radical concept huh?

Unbelievable how the left (statists) have destroyed this economy and country. The amount of waste and resources that is consumed by bureaucratic state is mind boggling. But if you talk to the aktards and Krugmans of the world, they'll tell you this produces prosperity:
