You don't have to go that far. It's just wrong that someone would get expelled from anything over a hand symbol that has 9000 meanings, the most common, purely innocuous.

Why would anyone assume that that hand signal had anything to do with the reporter. People do all manner of unique things when they get on camera. Those things they are doing generally have nothing to do with whatever else is going on in the camera.

People photo bomb live news reporters during broadcasts all the time. And yes, some of the photo bombers are white while the reporters are black.
