Originally we were told the cost of the war would be around $75 billion based on, if I'm not mistaken, about 1 month of combat. It now appears pretty certain that it will take a good deal more time than that. I believe I heard it costs about $1 billion per day for the way in addition to other fixed costs. When all is said and done, how much will the costs of the war drain from Treasury (i.e. you and me)? My odds are in parentheses

Remember the lifetime of disability and heavy healthcare cost for the wounded.

The most hideous statistic I ever saw in a war campaign was at the Kyber Pass, Bush was very cautious in Afganistan for good reason but
it looks like Obama's surge in the Afgan is fine with the radical lefties.

On January 13, 1842, a British army doctor reaches the British sentry post at Jalalabad, Afghanistan, the lone survivor of a 16,000-strong Anglo-Indian expeditionary force that was massacred in its retreat from Kabul. He told of a terrible massacre in the Khyber Pass, in which the Afghans gave the defeated Anglo-Indian force and their camp followers no quarter.

Afganistan voiced a British Viceroy after the disaster is a "poisened chalice"

It is pretty easy to get into Afganistan but very hard to get out.

The VA infrastructure, and doctors are all there either way.

It's the latter selection of course and the Vegas odds would be more fairly listed at -2000 or higher.

You have straw for brains if you dont think thousands on disability does not cost money.

Plus when patients of the VA go up, cost go up.

We may have stumbled into why the right wing craters the economy so much. They are totally ignorant while acting like they know all.

I'm just pointing out the VA and all it's programs are there already.

You act like we have to provide something "new".

Extra cost...I'll give you that...does it really make a difference?

Not so much.

I'm not sure the cost of the war is an incremental cost. Many expenses might still be incurred in peacetime, like wages, benefits, meals and stuff.

Although I'm not certain how they keep their books. Of course, I doubt anybody knows how they keep their books.

Just all of McCains flights over there for photo-ops had to cost millions.

Wow, I should be fired as a linesman for this!

Oddly, the person who voted for the lower number doesn't show up in the Who Voted detail
