the chalk in baseball

always wondered what taking chalk would be like in baseball and actually keep track of it.


ran some numbers on the braves last year.

if you took the braves all year when they where laying -150 or more here is how it would of turned out for you.

overall at $100 a game
+4200-3389=+811

on the road.
+1000-947=+53.

not sure if the numbers i got from wagerline were correct, i would think so though.

if i had more time i would love to do all the teams, but i do have a family.

going to do the redsox, yankees, a's, marlins, and a few others with good pitching staffs.

+6800-6726=+74 overall

clearly not worth the risk.

made more money on the road than at home.

the angels really took it to the yanks last year, that is where alot of the money was lost.

and the yanks as usual took it to the devil rays.

i think it is worth giving up the large numbers in that partiular case.

even at 250 on average they only need to win 14 to 5 to win money. risky yes, but worth it.

the yankees with a whole new pitching staff will be interesting to see, i think i would stay away from them for the most part.

+5200-6282=-1082 ouch.

on 300 or more a game 11 wins +1100 3 loses at -960 for a +140. to much risk once again for me.

and if you would stayed away form 300 plays you would of done even better.

i think an extra 500 to 700 $$$.

Red Sox, Yankees, Cubs not so hot as chalk. Some good chalk teams I would guess this year would be the Twins, Blue Jays, and Florida.

Some good teams to bet against this year are the Yankees, Red Sox, and White Sox when they make the west coast trips. There is lots of $$$ to be made fading these 3 teams.

one of the better bets last year was against the tigers both home and away +1-, run the numbers on that one, and figure which team will be in the same boat this year
