The Cardinals have a good Lineup, but is it enough?

We all know that the Cardinals have the most productive lineup in the MLB, but are they good enough to win the big one?

They have been continually giving up 4+ runs in several of their postseason wins thus far. One could make the point that they have just been very lucky as they have not faced decent pitching.

For a team to win the World Series, you have to have both a good starting rotation and a strong offensive lineup.

So far, we have just seen the offensive end of the St.Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals starting rotation really leaves a lot to be desired.

Personally, I do not think they have a chance in hell to win the world series, facing Boston or New York.

Cards and Yanks both very similar this year...no Aces , but both teams can score a ton of runs...I think it would be a very entertaining offensive World Series...

May be a little biased here, but I would argue that the Cards rotation is just as good as the Yanks and maybe even as good as the bosox minus schilling.

i think that is a touch biased. Cards with more ways to generate offense though to balance it a bit.

As a Cardinal fan, Yankees beleagured starters are definitely better though many of them are having subpar years and there is no one near Rivera in the bullpen. Yanks will be favored and probably should be with homefield, experience, and most importantly Rivera. It will be a competitive series with an edge to Yanks but feel someone will step up for Cards as they were 11-1 vs AL this year. Also, many on Yanks staff are former NL pitchers in Lieber, Brown, and Vasquez so there will be some familiarity on both sides. Just like this current series and the one before, the blueprint for a Cardinals winning this series and possibly WS is to get to the lead by the seventh inning and make the top closers like Gagne, Lidge, and Rivera irrelevent. Cards have had best road record for the season and likely would need to win twice in NY which will be a tall task!

I agree that there is no better defensive team in baseball and in regards to small ball Cards have done best this season at manufacturing runs but feel Yanks can equal them in that category when needed. Managers are fairly even. This will be a very tight series with pressure on the home teams to win.

Who has overrated the Cards pitching staff? They just keep them int he game, and give the Offense a chance to win.

MId relief is quality, though Izzy is shaky.

red sox come back to win the a.l. and meet st.louis in the series. st. louis wins in 7 games. goes down as most exciting series since 1986.

not in my book. the best they can hope for is to win 2 games in my opinion. and that would be the next two. they will need clemens and oswalt to go 7 innings because that bullpen is gassed.
