I'll accept that about Rivers, I only saw the GB game and he looked sharp to me. I still think he will be OK. But there is no way this is a superbowl O-line, even with Oben healthy. It isn't even an average line.

Maybe so, but it is the same line that was good enough to get Brees and LT to the Pro Bowl the last 2 years. It's not great, but it's good enough. Rivers' #'s were OK against GB but it was a lot of 2 yard passes that turned into 30 yard plays. He did have a nice throw to VJ in the corner of the end zone. Still, his ball flutters and does not get there with needed zip. And he is constantly under duress because he is so slow to get away from center. Maybe this is why he fumbled 2 snaps because he realizes he needs to speed it up.

very shakey O-Line that is two years older...I think this is going to really hurt Rivers early development...if he even develops....That offense at NC State was nothing like an NFL style offense...I feel a bust coming.

Don't forget if they don't suspend Gates for Week 1 last season, they would have beat Dallas and make the playoffs.

They had Dallas...I remember that game well as i had Dallas and was very fortunate ...SD should have been way up in that game.

Last seasons loss to Pittsburgh (a game they should have won) really cost them.

I dont see glaring value playing a win total on this team...7-9 8-8 9-7 is where they probably finish.

One poster has under 9.5 and another has over 8.5.

If I had to make a win total bet here (which of course I dont), I would take the under 9.5 as this team is nothing special.

An injury to LT or a couple key players and they are toast. Backing the over with a team with an unproven QB isnt a ticket Id like to have.

This team probably has at best a 40% chance of making playoffs outside wildcard round and are an early out if they somehow get a playoff spot.

the Steelers game was brutal and that was their season...I think under 9.5 is a very solid play...like WOOF just said anything in the slightest negtive and this team is in big trouble...could easily slip to 7-9 .

CRIS still has the win total at 9.5, but the juice on the under is up to -160. Probably wouldn't play it at that price, but still, I just do not see this team winning 10 games.

Harry, if you have that under played at reasonable juice, I think you have a solid bet.

Regardless, you should be able to hedge off that play if it gets too close at end of season.

Best thing for your bet would be for Drew Brees to start the season on fire and Rivers start either average or ice cold.

If the Saints are winning and SD is not, the media, fans, and locker room gossip will be too much for Rivers.

If that happens, the Chargers imho go into the toilet.

Any given Sunday....10-6 is not a lock for any NFL team.

That OV/UN 9.5 ticket comes down to opening game at Oak. Win that game and they WILL beat Tenn at home next week for the nice 2-0 start. All of a sudden, they will have some confidence. Their bye is VERY early (week 3). So they will have 2 weeks to get ready for the meat of their schedule (at Balt, home vs Pitt). Rams, Browns, Raiders, and Cards at home should all be wins. At KC, Den, Cincy, Sea all likely losses. Should beat SF on the road.

Problem is I can't see NO winning more that 6 games. They couldn't play much D with a defensive coach. Not good in a division with good defensive teams.

Calling Rivers a bust based on four pre-season games is laughable. Brees was average at best, the future is with the big kid.

Yea, I'm a homer and an optimist.

Someone posted that the Bolts are nothing "special."

The league is very balanced, who is "special?"

No one team is a clear favorite to dominate this year.

This Rivers situation reminds me of the Bengals. Kitna was coming off a great year and they gave the keys to the car to Palmer. There is a lot for Rivers to work with too. It is salary-cap reality.

Chargers just cut AJ Feely. Right now there are two QB's on the roster, Rivers and Whitehurst. It's kind of ironic because just a year ago, the Charger's QB depth wasn't an issue. Now its a major one.
