The Borgata works on Points only, and that includes decent size Gamblers

What you need to do is book a stay, get a Players Card and Gamble. Then you will build up points and receive future Offers, which are either Comp or Discounted Rooms.
The points you build will turn into Comp Dollars which you can use for your stay.... Charge everything to the room and before you check out, use those dollars

Been staying and playing there for the past 2 years. It is the best place in AC, but not a fan of the place when it comes to Comps.
I get my rooms comp, get my points/comp dollars, but if you want anything Extra... you need to LOSE... Yes, Lose... because if you Win, they won't doing anything extra.

True story which happened to me when I first started going there... Usually have a Host where ever I go... I asked for one and they said a Host will "Find" You
I thought ok... First 2 days I was up over $7K, went to their Marketing Dept. and said I was told to talk to them before I check out to see what 'Extra" they would take off... He said I would have to come back
the morning I was to check out.. so two days later i went down to see what they can do for me ( within the next 2 days, I lost about 2500 ) Still Up for the stay ( just under $5K )
The person there says they Can't do anything Extra for me because I WON
I said well the other day I asked and they just told me to come back. He said, Well it would have been worst because I was Winning MORE the other day !! LOL

So That's how it works there... the more points/comp $$ you earn, that's your Extra ( Even guys a lot bigger than me have the same deal ) They want you to Earn the points and use your dollars
Want a Limo ... depending on where you live, 600-800 points each way... Want a Nice Meal... Use your points
But the Rooms are Free.

I had plans to be there for Thanksgiving for 3 days... Going to cancel, because the drive will be a killer for the Holiday

Bet.... I hope you know that I have nothing but respect for you....... but........

What kind of SHIT is this. Seems we would have to be utter jack-legs to ever play there........ And, if things are like I suspect (have not been there for quite some time) Would seems if the Borgata is that backward....... would seem like AC would be pretty much a total toilet and unplayable..... unstayable? No?

They gotcha by the balls down in AC. If you want to stay and gamble at a NICE place you really don't have many options. You either play by thier rules or you go to a less caliber casino. If you go JUST to gamble you can get much better comps and comp structures ALL OVER AC bc the number one goal is to get good customers away from the Borgata.

Exactly what BAS said. He's spot on.

If you win there you get nothing. Hence why my wife gets comped water club rooms there all the time.

It's still by far the best place in AC.

I suppose it's all relative --- I've found the Borgata points/comp system to be decent (not great, but decent). Decent for table/slot players, pretty damn good for poker players (most casinos don't give diddly-poo to poker players).

However, when you consider Borgata's standing/competition in Atlantic City --- at that point, I'd argue Borgata goes above & beyond. Give most people Taj Majal + $50 comps, and they're still choosing Borgata.

I suppose Borgata needs to compete (somewhat) with the new "local" casinos in PA, NY, MD --- those people can drive 30 minutes to local, or 3-4 hours to Borgata. But the Borgata barely needs to compete with the AC casinos.

For playing poker your only option is the Borg. The Trop has treated me very well over the past 5 years however. Unlimited comped rooms and pretty much whatever else I want I just charge to room and it is taken off at end of visit.. Win or loose. I only make it to AC 2-3 times a year now that we have Maryland live but even now when I call my host he takes care of me. I even refered a friend to him who had never played their before. He said book the rooms and we will see how much play you have over the next 2 days. He ended up loosing only 800 for the trip and both nights comped.

There's really only 2 places you can stay at in AC, Borgata and harrahs.
I haven't played at a Total rewards place in years, but had a Host in LV years ago. Probably could get more out of Harrahs if I ask for a Host.

There's only about 6 ... Yes I said 6 Hosts at the Borgata ... and still, they are not like the normal Casino Hosts.
When I first went with my High Roller buddies, they dealt with the Top Guy .. think his name is callahan ... one of my friends ( who some here at the RX had met in LV ) is a $3500-$6500 per Roll players
That's his Avg... at any given he could have $30K on the table..

Anyway... the Borgata has normally 2 Player cards, Red & Black ... not hard to get black... you just have to go a lot

So we found out that they also had a platinum card that only went to High Rollers. My buddy asked this Callahan guy if he can get it. ( you would figure the way he plays )
guy tells him, if I give it to you, I would have to give it to everyone that ask for it. !!! LOL What a Joke...

But like I said, as far as Rooms or Suites... no Problem, you get that Up front once they know you gamble and how you gamble
Everything else you need to use your Comp $$ / points

Well.....then I would strongly suggest everyone treat the Borgata like the cesspool they are!!!

Believe me, the place itself is not a cesspool ... Great rooms, Great Restaurants, the shows are good as well ( even though I'm Comp at mohegan for the same shows I have to use comp $$ at Borgata )
The key to Borgata is that they Don't do Buses .... so the place is Clean... not much low level whatever...

and Yes the water Club is nice ... which is another plus

Have a couple of friends I know that still go to the Taj ... they say it's gross !

Not comping based on someone winning at a -EV game is the epitome of stupidity for a casino. Comps should always be based on the total action placed...
Win or lose shouldn't matter to the casino, who ever made that decision is a complete fool.
