Wow, awesome movie.

2008-2009 were tough times for a lot of folks who had nothing to do with the actions that caused it

Very interesting movie

How can they make a movie about this subject without saying the words Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac not one time?

Greed/corruption is a little more sensational than all of the details and the movie was mostly about '05-07 when the bubble had made it's way into the private markets.

To explain the whole story would've taken hours on end. I linked an interview with Bale's character in a Big Short thread on this site, it was short but a good read.

What's strange is that I remember that the OP had a really hard time finding work out of college, probably because of this. Now he has a 6 figure job, house, mancave, house, wife, and kid on the way, yet complains that we're headed in the wrong direction? Doesn't make sense, unless Bourn's right, and this is a psy-ops job.

Buffett said a few weeks ago that the kids being born today will have it better than any generation ever. He wasn't wrong.

Easy for people to take for granted how lucky we are to live in USA#1 in 2016.

Tough time for the folks that lost their jobs?

Tough times for anyone who didn't have a government job. Even those of us that did have jobs got our hours cut. Business owners were either cutting, or going under because people weren't spending. I remember seeing business after business closing down here in Reno, and not just small ones. It was a snowball effect.

its funny how bubbles work.
where I live was the exception. Oil was booming at that time other then a small short lived blip that only lasted a few months.

Where I live was the best of times when all that went down .

Now when everyone else is on the road to recovery we starting to get hit hard.

Where I live is the worst it's ever been since the early 90s.

And guess what? The early 90s was tremendous to everyone else until the .com bubble hit the fan.

Then right after that things were great where I live from that moment till about 6 months ago.

I hate to sound mean and selfish but from 2008 till about 6 months ago has been a dream for me in so many ways.

I would not wish for that to happen again for selfish gain but it all depends on the situation you are in.

Kinda like for every bad beat in sports betting is another persons good beat.

Except in this case it was 100 bad beats to every 1 good beat

The way you can tell when a movie is good is if people who are not really interested in the subject of the movie and still liking it.
I think this movie accomplished that.

Kind of like a great chef can sometimes make me like a food that I normally would not enjoy from an average or bad chef .

There is a resturant in New Orleans that has such a damn good chef he or they can make shit taste good. It's amazing
