i'm wondering is anybody who resides in New Orleans has any type of connections with getting a decent rate on a hotel.I am planning to take my wife to a Saints game which she is a huge fan of and with the prices of hotels down there i really could use some help in getting a discounted rate if anyone has that type of connections.Tickets alone are going to be expensive so this is why i'm asking for some help.

It really all depends on the weekend you go...some weekends, rates are 3x the normal amount.
I go to nola around 2-4 times per year...and if we are alone or with other who have also been before, we typically find an airbnb around the lower garden district...and barely, if ever, go to the quarter in the few days we are there.
You will generally find better hotel deals in the central business/warehouse district...and just be like a 5/10 minute walk to the quarter.
You are looking at ~$60 roundtrip transportation from the airport...and if you rent a car...$40/night for parking.
If I have a car...I usually park in a neighborhood or at a bar outside the quarter for free overnight...and use that as an excuse to get a workout the next morning to go snag it.
