quote:
On the subject of banning posters, why is there even such an issue here? The Web site and posting boards are privately owned property. Like it or not, the owners can choose to limit who speaks here until the end of time.

Privately owned property that derive their entire revenue from posters who are rewarded only minimally for their contribution. The posters bring the traffic and the traffic brings the ad revenue.

Good business policy dictates exceptional service to the customer. Who is the customer here?

The posters are, and should be catered to as such. Although they don't pay the site directly, the pay the advertisers who then pay the site. No posters = no revenue for the advertisers = no more reason to buy advertisements.

Drunkguy - We all agree that, as a general rule, 'the customer is always right.' I think the point Wild Bill is making is that even customers are held to standards of being a human being. And that entails treating other people the same way you would want to be treated.

If the Golden Rule was followed here, there would be absolutely NO PROBLEMS!!!

charlie,

i would agree with you if the main reason for the bannings was lack of respect for other posters. problem is, that hasnt been the case lately.

or when it has been the case, such as a Mod flaming a poster, the thread mysteriously disappears. Hypocritical to say the least.
