The American ingenuity often trumpeted by politicians has helped at least one gun maker skirt laws aimed at making it harder to buy assault rifles.
Connecticut-based Stag Arms has made slight modifications to assault rifles banned in neighboring New York after the horrific 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting just over half an hour away from where the firearms are made.
The ‘New York-compliant’ assault rifle is able to be sold in the state after changing the grip and losing a few other features, according to the firearm maker’s website.

The 'compliant' AR-15: It has an angled grip, in place of a pistol grip, no grenade launcher and a crowned barrel that prohibits a silencer attachment

Stag Arms openly advertises the different modifications made to multiple models of AR-15 that allow them to be sold in a total of nine states where bans are in place.
‘This just shows that the gun prohibition lobby uses symbolic gestures over substance to push their anti-gun rights agenda. Banning guns based on cosmetic features proves that point,’ Second Amendment Foundation President Bill Gottlieb told Fox News.
New York law defines an assault weapon as any semi-automatic firearm that can accept a magazine in combination with one or more of almost a dozen other features including a pistol grip, barrel shroud, forward grip or grenade or rocket launcher, according to the New York Times.
Stag makes the guns in New Britain, CT, less than 40 miles from Newtown, where the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting occurred.

Non-compliant: This AR-15 has an adjustable stock (the part that touches the shooter's shoulder), pistol grip, barrel shroud (to keep the shooter from being burned during continuous shooting) and a threaded barrel with an attachment already on the end

[h=3]BANNED IN NEW YORK[/h]The following features are banned from rifles in the Empire State:

  • Pistol-style grip
  • Grenade or rocket launcher attachments
  • Threaded barrel - allows for the attachment of silencers
  • High-capacity magazines
  • Forward grip - for a second hand
  • Adjustable stock - the part that touches the shoulder
  • Bullet button - allows the magazine to be removed using the tip of a bullet
  • Barrel shroud - Allows for uninterrupted firing by shielding shooter from being burned by a hot barrel

Stag’s modified AR15’s are bare-bones. They come with a crowned barrel (instead of the threaded barrel that would allow for attachments like silencers), an angled grip and little room for further enhancement.
Anti-gun groups Mayors Against Illegal Guns, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, and the Violence Policy Center all declined to comment to Fox News and were not immediately able to be reached by MailOnline.
But Gottlieb argued the bans enacted in New York and elsewhere actually block the ability to purchase safe firearms, including the Bushmaster rifle specifically banned in the Empire State.
‘There aren’t many accidents committed with Bushmaster rifles, and there are a number of times that so-called assault rifles have been used in self defense,’ he said.
The modifications made to the gun add only $100 to the base price and, despite the increased cost, at least one Upstate gun dealer can’t wait to have them in stock.

Hot commodity: Gun shop owners, such as Mike Reickert (pictured) are looking forward to selling the new guns and believe they will fly off the shelves

AR-15 owners in the state have until April 15 to register their gun with authorities or have it modified to fit new regulations, but may be hesitant to do so after a similar effort resulted in the confiscation of guns in New York City, Fox noted.
No matter the obstacles needed to overcome buying an AR-15 in New York, Reickert expects the new firearms to be a brisk business one he has them in the store.
‘It’s a universal gun that you can put in anybody’s hands… it’s a fun and enjoyable gun to shoot.’

our Gov is (or at least was) trying to run this company out of the state (it's not been in the news much recently)

they employ about 20 people in manufacturing positions who like working there

they feed work to local subcontractors, creating more jobs

their employees spend money, creating more jobs

and our libtarded politicians want to shut them down because of the product they manufacture legally.

somewhere in libtardville, politicians feel better about themselves if those guns were simply manufactured in another state, it's just so damn weird
