Guess we all knew what we were talking about, lest Stanford makes the biggest comeback of all time

In addition to the Central Florida gift of a -7 line that 32 players took advantage of, the guys who had the generous -7.5 line on Florida just covered in a fluke. That game opened at Florida -8.5 and closed at Florida -10, but somehow we got a Florida -7.5 line.

From the looks of the picks, this contest is a lines-watching contest. I figured that. It's hard not to take the value side when the line moves. I suppose the only thing to do is to post the lines a little later in the week. Too late for this year, I suppose.

These games are run just like the sportsbook contests in Vegas. You have to post the lines early to give everyone time to submit plays. And yes, obviouly lines can and do change.

I've seen people complaining about deadlines, c'mon man. It takes time to administer these things, and these contests have late deadlines already. It's critical to learn them, and deadlines are posted everywhere making them hard to miss.

Missing picks sucks, it happens, just don't blame anyone else

PS: BAD BEATS HAPPEN TOO :)

The best part about this post is he could literally bet the games he’s bitching about himself and stfu. We all get the same lines man. Be a f’in Sharp and pick some winners. No one likes a complainer and no one feels sorry lol. PS I put my games in on Thursday this week bc I was gonna be busy Saturday. I would of been 5-1 if I waited for moves I liked but that’s the breaks. Forge onnnnn

No worries guys. I knew what to expect going in with the contest and I've also been watching and taking advantage of selected line moves. It makes good sense to take the value on some of them. I didn't miss any deadlines. I was well aware of all the line moves. I even made a conscious decision NOT to take Central Florida. I thought David Shaw and Stanford would keep it close and I would pick up a game on a lot of players, although I wasn't willing to actually take Stanford with the bad line.

I still think if we wanted to eliminate some of the line variance, we could consider posting the lines at least a day later. No one is rushing or needs to get their picks in on Wednesday or Thursday. Just a suggestion.

I had originally planned to post lines on Tuesday night.... then I moved it to Wednesday morning. Now that's too early.

It has been this way since it began years ago. You have to utilize that or you'll be at the bottom of the standings. It really isn't a handicapping contest...it's about who can choose which moves matter. :Carcajada:

It isn't only about hopefully posting lines later during future years, it's also about having an earlier deadline. Pushing the deadline forward this year to Saturday morning (instead of Friday night as it was previously) only exacerbated the line watching aspect.

Just my 2 cents....lines are posted. Available to all in contest. If there is fluctuation or a move in a certain direction, and it meets your criteria, jump on it. If need be, wait until Friday/Sat to make your plays. The rules were posted. Don't see reason to post the numbers a day later. The numbers posted are the available lines at that time. And it does take a lot of time to run these contests. I remember an oldtimer telling me.... you could teach someone to shit a gold brick, and they would complain because you didn't shit it for them.

The deadline last year was 10pm Friday. 45 of the 72 posted BEFORE that deadline this week. 26 waited longer. About 2 out of 3 don't care apparently.

JOH, in your college picks contest you have W Mich +5 and Syracuse -6

339 Western Mich is +6. Made the change. No one had them as a pick so no harm. Thanks Bitty for the heads up.

Wow, just read all the discussion. Personally, I think we all get the same lines so it's 100% fair. Also, thank you so much for changing the deadline to later. Really appreciate all the work put in to make such a great contest every year. Thanks!
