I think that the further you go back, the kicker may want that extra 1 yard to give the ball a better chance to get over the defense. So if they spot it at the 15 isn't it a 32 yard XP? I always added 17 yards to the spot...this has me confused. :think2:

In my experience kickers like it closer, because your blocking scheme is always to cover the inside leaving the outside gunners free. And the further you move back the easier chance the outside gunners can get there. Just my opinion. Never seen them go back 8 yards. Seen 6-7.

If they're at the 35, it's a 52 yarder. If they're at the 20, it's a 37 yarder. Always has been and that math has always worked.
Is that you playing place kicker holder in your picture? If so, you could for once could have me convinced.
I went to a legit high school, top 25 in the nation pretty much every year. Did not start at qb but did hold for 3 years. And even in college it's always 6-7 yards because the basic geometry of the gunners.
You are looking at it wrong hc.
You only add 10 yards from the spot of the kick because the end zone is 10 yards. So if you spot it at the 20 it's a 30 yard fg.
Where the 17 yard thing comes in is due to placing the ball 7 yards behind the Los for the snap.
If a team throws an incomplete pass on 3rd and 10 from the 20 it would be a 37 yard fg because even though the Los is the 20 they hike the ball and the holder will be 7 yards back from the Los at the 27 then you add 10 more for the endzone and that's how you get your 17 yards
Either way it's dumb but not NEARLY as dumb as all these friggin defensive contact penalties. Almost unwatchable.
next year - not this year
