We are saddened by the passing of longtime baseball operations executive Walt Jocketty. As General Manager of the St. Louis Cardinals for 13 seasons alongside Hall of Fame manager Tony La Russa, his teams made 7 Postseason appearances, won 2 National League pennants, and the 2006 World Series championship. Jocketty was named MLB Executive of the Year in 2000 and 2004, and won the award for a third time in 2010 as General Manager of the Cincinnati Reds, who made the Postseason 3 times under his watch. Most recently, Jocketty served the Reds as Executive Assistant to the CEO since 2016. This season marked his 50th year in professional baseball. He was 74 years old.
