Lakers guard Luka DonÄiÄ to miss at least 1 week with finger sprain, leg contusion.
Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka DonÄiÄ is set to miss at least a week with multiple injuries, via multiple media reports.
DonÄiÄ has been ruled out with a left finger sprain and a lower left leg contusion. He will be reevaluated in a week,
ESPN's Dave McMenamin reported.
DonÄiÄ put up a 49-point performance in the Lakers' win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, marking his
second straight 40-point performance to start the season. He wore tape over his left middle finger during the matchup, indicating the potential injury.
DonÄiÄ nearly hit 50 on Friday, but was pulled by head coach JJ Redick after DonÄiÄ missed two shots and split a pair of free throws with five minutes left in the blowout win.
The Lakers are already without LeBron James, who is
aiming for a mid-November return after being
diagnosed with sciatica just before the start of the season. Worse, DonÄiÄ being sidelined comes ahead of a busy week for the Lakers, who face the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, followed by games Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
With DonÄiÄ out, Austin Reaves is likely going to step up at point guard. Jake LaRavia, Marcus Smart and Jarred Vanderbilt are among those who may take over the final starting spot left by DonÄiÄ.
