for providing the Penguins with that little extra motivation that will allow them to win the cup this year and keep you cupless!

FWIW...................

Marian Hossa helped the Penguins get to the Stanley Cup last year. He seemed to fit in well with the team & the city loved him. Then the Penguins lost the cup.

Hossa then refuses to resign a long term deal with the Penguins because he was 100% sure that he had a better chance to win the Stanley Cup with the Red Wings (if you cant beat them join them mentality) despite helping a young talented Penguins team get to their first cup final in 16 years.

A SLAP IN THE FACE & A DAGGER IN THE HEART

Im sure many Penguins were hurt and insulted by Hossas comments when he signed with Detroit. Then, time rolled on as usually and all was forgotten.....until now! As fate would have it, now Hossa must try and get through the team he spurned and insulted nearly one year ago. The teammates he turned his back on. The team he felt wasnt good enought to win him a Stanley Cup. So............You all can bet your sweet *** that the Penguins are salivating to stuff it up Detroit's (and Hossa's) ***. The Penguins are going to be dialed in for this series. This had to be Hossa's worst nightmare. While some of these guys may still be friends with Hossa off the ice (some may hate him too), you can take it to the bank that not one of these guys wants to see his *** raise that Stanley Cup this year. Personal pride was hurt when Hossa left, then compounded by what he said. Pro athletes have too much pride, especially tight knit hockey teams like the Pens. So you can bet that they are going to do everything possible to make sure that Mr. Hossa is denied his chance at the cup this season. Oh the justice.

(PS...I like the Wings too. Alwyas have admired that team for how professional they are and how successful they have been. First class IMO.) I just hope my hometown team can get it done this year because last year it looked like men vs boys in the finals. Hopefully the Pens have learned form last year & I think Hossa provides them with the extra push that might propel them. Should be a great series. Pens in 6 or 7.

I think you are looking a little more into the Hossa thing than the players are. They are past that. This kind of stuff gets us fans riled up more than anything.

Agreed. Most everything the Wolf just stated is true and already not only said, but been known by everyone involved. What he's failed to leave out is that Hossa, at the time, was an UNRESTRICTED free agent and was free to play ANYWHERE he felt he wished. The Pens knew that when they traded for him. He was under NO obligation what so ever to re-sign with the Pens and he chose not to, as at THAT time he evidently didn't like the makeup of the team or some circumstances were not aware of. Maybe it was the coach that was there at the time that has since been canned. Marian Hossa was in a position as a UFA to play where ever he wished. I believe he had a no trade clause in Atlanta and figured he like his situation better in Pittsburgh than Atlanta. He then decided he liked the situation he saw over in Detroit better than what he encountoured in Pittsburgh at that time. UFA's are players that have EARNED a right to play where they chose. Only a small % of players of his caliber reach Unrestricted Free Agency. A statement like this just shows some don't understand why Unrestricted Free Agency was negotiated in the CBA in the first place. If you keep that attitude, not only was your season a bitter one, but this off season's apt to extend them even longer. Good Luck.

If the Pens need Hossa for motivation they are in trouble. Winning the cup should be all any player needs. Why the big deal over Hossa and not Malone, a home grown Pittsburgh boy. Focus on the cup!

no i really think this hossa situation will help the pens get that extra edge. When hossa was asked why he left pittsburgh he replied "I wanted a chance to win the cup".......so basically he was saying that the pens dont have a chance???? so he wont sign with them???? The pens will flat out refuse to lose this series. they want it more than the wings. pens will win game 1, 3, 4, and 6

Hossa will get his wish, his "chance to win the cup".

If he had stayed with the Pens, maybe they wouldn't have gone this far.

Would they have had to sacrifice a lot of the supporting cast to keep him?

Hossa may know a few secrets about the Pens that will help the Wings.
