So I ended up 1-1 yesterday breaking even for the day +$0. Took a prop bet which I thought was good value but lost that, and won with the Diamondbacks over the Nationals.
St. Louis Cardinals (0-3, 0-0 Away)
Wainright (0-0, 0.00 ERA)
Houston Astros (0-3, 0-3 Home)
Rodriguez (0-0, 0.00 ERA)
My selection is on:
2.5* to win 2.5*
Houston Astros Ev
The Houston Astros started the season in a rather embarrasing way getting swept by the lowly Pirates, but look for them to come back against the Cardinals. The Astros have currently won their last 5 games against the Cardinals and they will be playing in Houston, which is always a plus playing at home. I expect Adam Wainwright to struggle as he is being converted to a starter this year. Usually converted starters struggle early, then begin to pick up some momentum a bit into the season.
Now I understand Wandy Rodriguez isn't your favorite starter to back, but he's got some good numbers against the top Cardinals hitters. Also, he is undefeated in the month of April as it his best posting a 4-0 Win Loss record to go along with a 2.53 ERA. In that span of April he is also holding his opponents to a 2.39 batting average. Not to mention St. Louis is dealing with some injury problems including Scott Spezio and Juan Encarnacion. With the 5 wins in a row against the Cardinals and the fact that Rodriguez has yet to lose a game in April in his career, I think this is a good spot for Houston to win its first game of the year.
KEY STATS
A. Pujols is 0 for 9 (.000) against W. Rodriguez
J. Edmonds is 2 for 12 (.167) with 4 RBI's against W. Rodriguez
