Here's a good example of utter lunacy brought to you by our good friends from over yonder. Notice in the video they talk about looking away (while driving) for over a minute. WTH? Who looks away for more than two seconds? Answer: no one.

Only a matter of time before they have text messaging stings. Or they might just take the lazy route and go with text messaging cameras. Either way, the hard working motorist gets screwed.

Do I ever text and drive? Not often, but I have. I never took my eyes off the road for more than two seconds.

A minute. :lolBIG:

In Germany we have a law that states that using a mobile telephone while driving is a traffic violation whenever the driver holds it in his hand for that. Courts have decided that "using" means not only phoning or texting but basically anything you can do with a mobile. One driver has actually been found guilty under this law because he had shortly picked up the mobile for a quick glance at the display to check the time - no joke...

I'm with the Nazi's on this one - why do the idiots on cell phones have to drive slow in the passing lane?

If these idiots pulled into the slow lane, I wouldn't care, but they all want to hold up traffic in the passing lane while they thoughtlessly yak away or send text messages. And why is it that most of these fools are in SUVs or shiny red little sprotscars?

They should make a special lane for hillbillies in pickup trucks, SUVs and females in red sportscars. Ooops - that's right, there is a special lane that these dolts like to drive in - it's the pasing lane.

Arghhh!

I can understand you, but those drivers should not be punished for using mobiles but for inhibiting traffic.

For 22 years in Dallas/Ft Worth TX I spent 80% of my driving time on freeways. I don't recommend looking away from your front or mirrors at all when your average speed ranges between 55-85 mph.

However, since coming to Florida in 1998 I now drive suburban surface streets over 90% of the time.

In that vein, keeping steely eyed focus on the road ahead is pretty much overrated.

I can text in a pinch; of course use my cell phone with impunity and can even skim newspaper headlines or update my work log and route schedule if needed.

You can get a lot of reading done at red light traffic stops too.

Don't worry about missing the change to green light. The guy behind you will let you know.

Ive seen Women putting on makeup.Men reading the paper.Teenage girls giving their boyfriends a blowjob while going down the road (ive had it done that way when I was young too)..... It really depends on the traffic but tired drivers are just as dangerous as drunk drivers or cell phone users.

Text messaging may be worse. I good drunk driver still knows to keep his eye on the road and tends to drive slower, not that I have any experience or anything.

When texting, you take your eye off the road. It only takes two seconds to cause an accident.

I also believe texting is probably being done much more frequently and by less experienced drivers.

Here’s a idea, turn off your cell while driving. With the exception of being a physician, what message could possibly be that important that you couldn’t wait to you reach your destination.
