Several of the "big boy" boosters at Texas are ripping the hiring of Strong in public.

Reminds me of Auburn when they hired Gene Chizik a few years back.

Now that he's scratched Texas off his list I would like to see OU get Trey Lealaimatafao. He's probably the best DT prospect we have left on the board. OU is on his list among 4 other schools. I read that he's yet to take his 5th and final trip to Oregon. So I'm crossing my fingers.

"Texas lost two defensive line recruits late Tuesday because their position coach is headed to USC."

not so much because of Strong but because the asst coach left and they followed. the notes about Texas asst coaches looking for jobs and not preparing for the Organ game were spot-on

and Red McCombs is butt hurt because he didnt get to choose the coach. i guess having one of "those" coaching Texas now isnt to his liking. boo hoo.

red mcombs spoke out. he was mad they didnt confer with him about the hiring. apparently Red knows more than those
that did the hiring, like AD Patterson. Red was a big reason why Mack stuck around so long even with the program was declining.

Strong and mccombs have since spoken.

Red Mccombs is the same guy that hired Mike Tice in Minnesota to replace Dennis Green, right? Probably a good thing that Patterson sent his calls straight to voice mail.

SDF - I just hope folks took the info about the Texas coaches and banged Oregon hard. As for McCombs, he's the worst kind of bigot...one with money. Shameful, however, as I stated previously, I was surprised the school would hire a minority. Not because of the administration or my man Patterson, but because of old $$ boosters like McCombs. It only took 6 or 7 coaches declining them to hire him. I hope he works out.

My buddy thinks that Strong is gonna go after VY if he can get Vince to commit to coaching instead of the NFL.

could help recruiting perhaps but I'm not sure what kind of coaching he could give. VY is NOT getting an NFL job. There were multiple places he could have been hired or even brought in for a tryout and that didnt happen. VY turned down a CFL contract with Montreal last year. Whomever is making his decisions is doing a poor job. I sure hope the VY Steakhouse is making him some money.....

A big part of Texas' problems on offense the past few years revolve around another 'Loved Longhorn QB". Nick Saban gave Major Applewhite a chance to coordinate Bama's offense back in 2008 and ran him off after one season.

As RT alluded to...maybe Vince Young could work as a tutor for the football team. Soumi
