Anyone else think this looks like to many points to be giving a rice team with a decent qb

I don't like the idea of betting Rice, because Texas could easily win this game by 40+, but the pointspread has put it into no-play territory for me. Rice is a little like a service academy in that they never stop trying or vary their offense, no matter how far they're down. With a spread that large there's just too much of a chance for a trash-time backdoor cover.

One area of weakness for UT is their secondary so I'd tread lightly as the backdoor could easily be open here for pass happy Rice.

The backdoor is very much open for this game. I don't give two hoots about the history of this series. This is this year. Texas also will have been off for two weeks. In this case where preparations for Arkansas were halted, this could be more of a hinderance than a help...Good luck

I would definitely stay away from this game. If it were at 24 I think it would be a good value, but giving 30 is simply too much.

If the spread were 24 I'd love to bet Texas, hoping the line would rise enough to shoot for a middle. A 24- to 28-point difference is about what I think we'll see in this game.

FYI -- Rice is playing its 3rd road game in as many weeks.....I know a few sharp players that make this situation an almost automatic play on the home team....C. Michigan at Purdue is in the same situation.

I'm in Austin right now, helping w/ the hurricane relief (w/ the Coast Guard). I've never been to Austin and this place is great! I haven't had much time to explore, but got down to 6th Street last night. I'm gonna try to go to the game this Saturday.

Anyhow, I agree that 30 is way too many points. UT's D is much improved w/ a great DC. However, I think Rice will put up a few points. I don't think UT missed too much practice time last week as it hardly rained here in Austin. But, still, 30 points? I'd lay off.....

CoachCB....I always enjoyed Austin when I used to go down there to visit relatives. Lots to do in that town. And I also like the general college atmosphere and music scene there.

As for the Rice-Texas game I'll most like have a play for the game. I'm not crazy about it, but there are quite a few things here that favor Texas, or at the very least the over. Both of Rice's starting LB's got hurt in the Vandy game and won't play. Big loss for an already outmanned Rice defense...GL

i'm looking to play Texas for the 2nd half. Muschamp will make the necessary defensive adjustments IMO to slow the Rice passing offense.

Agree with GS that over looks very good even up to 70 points. The Texas passing offense is looking good right now and Rice will definitely give up a lot while the Rice passing offense will get some easy scores on the young Texas secondary

sdf, I like the idea of a possible 2H play on the game. The Texas defense has looked much better in the second half of both games so far.

I'm also going to be keeping an eye on the Texas team total as a potential play. If it's 42 or lower I'd make it a large play (but I'd be SHOCKED if it were that low), at 42.5-49 I'd consider it for a single-unit bet. Anything at 49.5 or higher would probably be too much for me to want to play it.

History is hard to fade! The Rice coaches wanted to get out of this game healthy(3 straight road games), and win next week @home against North Texas. I saw this game 27.5 at the wire!
