This Saddam Hussein-type policy of eliminating all dissention is silly. Sure it worked at BettorsWorld but look what's left.

Pat McIrish would of EASILY been banned under the new shotgun banning approach for the way he use to stand up to the Rx.

Buzzsaw,

Please don't "twist" what we say around to suit your needs. We will never become a "Sadam Hussein" type of forum.

All we want to do is to eliminate those who don't respect others, so that the rest of us don't have to weed through dozens of threads to find relevant topics...

We welcome differences of opinions, but we won't tolerate those who only show an interest in bashing others or stirring up crap just for the sake of causing trouble...

To compare this to BW is insulting and hits a nerve with me, but I can see how you MIGHT think that...

I stayed up very late last night for me discussing this new policy with someone else who took YOUR position, so obviously, this is a very delicate subject and I expect a vast array of opinions, many which may not be favorable...

But then again, as I anchored this site to where it is today, I have always tried to learn from my mistakes...

Let me conclude with this short analogy that I shared last night to a dear friend of mine...

If this were a classroom (and in many ways, it feels like that), AND, if you were the TEACHER, would you allow people who constantly shoot "spitballs" at others to stay in your class?

I believe not...

The spitball group will disrupt the class to no end if left unattended. But, if they are removed, I believe the other students will learn a lot MORE in lESS time then by ignoring this situation altogether...

Thanks,

THE SHRINK

Pretty poor analogy. In a classroom setting one of the main purposes is to learn from the teacher and the teacher sets the agenda. I was under the assumption(which maybe where I am In the wrong) that this forum was under more of a group project setting and the moderators were here to help give direction and facilitate.

Ken, though I agree with that type of analogy, its not a perfect one. That analogy would only work if the teacher of the class was a good one and the students believed they could gain from the class. If the teacher has flaws and because of those flaws, bad student behavior arises, then maybe the students deserve to stay and the teacher should be the one to "leave the class".

jwunderdog and MadCapper,

I understand how you might not like the anaology, but I was just trying to nail down a point by using it...

The bottom line though is that we ARE ALL LEARNING by using this forum or I highly doubt posters would come here...

Do you guys REALLY want us to allow TROUBLEMAKERS who are DISRESPECTFUL towards others to participate with us or not?

I'm not talking about the guy who occassionaly blows up, rather the guy who has 500 posts of which 400 of them fall into that category I mentioned...

Shrink,

I don't beleive in editing my post so I will apolgize now. Writing that it is a poor analogy is probably not the right phrase to use. My whole point is when you make a decision are you doing it for the students(posters) benefit or the Teacher's?

Ken,

Its one thing if the person is a consistent troublemaker and gets his high from instigating quarrels. It's another thing if the person merely disagrees with some of the views of the brass. Dissenting opinions could be just as valuable, if not more valuable, then the concurring ones.

A poster may disagreee with anything he likes, but there are right ways and wrong ways to share your opinions. Share with courtesy and professionalism and you will be just fine. Throw around slander and you will not.

If you say you do not like something, there are tactful ways of doing so. Try to send your message with respect and use some dignity.

It's very easy.

To all:

Why dont we just talk sports, gambling, and have fun with other things?

The positive energy wasted on this stuff is meaningless.

Some forums have 75%+ of their threads related to this boring stuff. What little there is here, is actually to much IMO.

Although it may be none of our busniess, I feel there is a need for a banned list to be posted somewhere on the site and a brief explanation of why this person failed to live up to the criteria of posting here.

I don't know how many times I've come here and seen the news of a poster being banned and everyone asking, why? This leaving people in the dark only leads to more problems and misinterpratations as to a person actually getting banned, gagged, or a short vacation.

Just a thought

This guy should be banned!! calling a group scum is in very poor taste and should not be allowed on this site.

I disagree with 90 % of what is written on here (Well, maybe an exaggeration), but I like to make a counterpoint in an intelligent manner, that, while the other party may not agree with my opinion, and myself likewise, we can respect each others views.

jwunderdog,

Aren't chold molesters behaving like "scum?"

Aren't serial killers behaving like "scum?"

Where would YOU draw the line sir?

GreenDoberman,

We want to fascillitate exactly what you posted so that we can disagree intelligently, but not disrespectfully....

There is a BIG difference...

Does anyone else get it?
