why is temple even favored ?
Temple returns 21 of its 22 starters, including all 11 on a defense that led the MAC in total defense in 2007 despite starting a lot of youth and inexperience. Senior QB Adam DiMichele is also fully healthy after suffering a season-ending injury last season after leading Temple to a 4-4 start (they finished the season 4-8).
Army, meanwhile, only returns a handful of starters from an abysmal 2007 team, and is implementing a brand new option offense (rumored, as they kept a lid on it in the offseason) that apparently doesn't even suit its most talented QB. The defense was also one of the worst in CFB last year and could be even worse this season, with a DL that hasn't shown the ability to pressure the QB and a secondary with zero returning starters.
Those are a handful of reasons why Temple is probably favored. The line opened up much lower and skyrocketed up to what it is now.
