Iowa is due for an L, no? The lopsided score against Michigan State is misleading for Iowa as well, as they played the Spartans close most of the game. 28-26 after 3 quarters and then 24 unanswered by MSU in the 4th. Two scores with under 3 minutes to go. Have the bye to gear up and get pumped to potentially knock off another top ranked opponent who is also undefeated. Redemtion, of sorts. It's a home game and they have the offense to do it. I don't know fellas...You tell me...Why isn't Indiana ML the right play?

I like Iowa... They are so vanilla it's almost funny. Even more plain Jane than Stanford. Their offense isn't much to look at but Damn their defense is good.... Here's why the ML isn't a good play....

Key Iowa team stats

fbs rankings

#7 total defense
#6 scoring defense
#5 in rushing defense
#8 in red zone defense
#11 passes intercepted
#6 turnover margin
#7 turnovers gained
#11 time of possession
#14 team passing efficiency defense
#15 sacks

This is a VERY STOUT DEFENSE.... Indiana scores against average run defenses. This isn't an average run defense. What QB is Indiana on now....2nd, 3rd??? I'm asking honestly because I don't know.... Plus their starting RB has been dinged up... Iowa is as physical as they come and I highly doubt they let Indiana run all over them. I'll be taking Iowa come Saturday. Bol with your action.

Indiana is back on their #1 QB, Sudfeld. He's a real gamer. Their starting RB has been dinged up, but he returned two weeks ago and was decent against MSU (just over 7 yards/carry and that was his first action back). For the both of them, they've had two weeks to heal with the bye and the RB has been practicing...MSU and OSU are good defenses too. Maybe not from compared to their defenses historically, but still good...This is Iowa though. I mean, I get what you're trying to convey, but this one isn't even about the numbers. We know SOS is a big "thing" in college football, so let's be real...Outside of a Northwestern team that we know a lot more about and who was banged up when getting beat up by Iowa, who have they played? Indiana has been tested by much better teams and played very tough.

I appreciate the insight, but I'm still not convinced...

youve got valid points. Can't argue that one bit. My job wasn't to convince you and still isn't. Play your picks, that's what you should always do. I just personally think Iowa is as healthy as anyone, confident as anyone and has all the momentum rolling into this game. No reason they shouldn't win out and they know that. They don't play a tough game until the big 10 title game, presuming they get there..... Big if..... But they look like the best team in that division hands down.

in my own set of beliefs for wagering on sports, the two most important factors a team can possess are confidence and momentum.... Let's make this simple for the sake of a gentleman like conversation.... One team is undefeated winning 8 in a row coming into this game with a chance to go undefeated and playor a big 10 title game..... The other team has lost 4 games in a row coming in and is trying to find enough life in them to make a bowl game.... Who would you say has all the confidence and momentum...?

upsets happen all the time in sports and they are awesome when they do, so Indiana could very well beat Iowa..... but is it likely?? No

my advice is do what you want to do. Play your picks.

but if it were me playing Indiana I'd take the points. Just my honest opinion. Bol to you sir

the "...but I'm still not convinced" line wasn't really directed at you, but to spur on more discussion. I truly appreciate the feedback and agree 100% about playing your own picks. All about that gut feeling.

I really do like the ML, but I'm definitely taking the points. The ML talk just invites more chatter. Know what I mean?

Oh oh I hear ya loud and clear, no offense taken. I understood your point. ML are enticing, but I don't like to gamble, I try to invest.... Sounds stupid I know but when you're wagering a lot of money on a team of college kids, I like a security blanket lol... I see Iowa winning by 6 personally... They'll do just enough to get it done, and no more haha

Of course it`s likely.....Toledo lost tonight to N.I......Indiana can win this game at home.....Iowa ain`t nothing special for a undefeated team.

You must be from Iowa.....Good luck!

Greenbacks, I'm from Oregon lol....I've got no ties toniowa whatsoever... I just think Indiana is bad football this year, going up against a good defensive team. We shall see tho. I'm not comfortable laying any large amount on them, not after they missed a 1 point cover against Maryland. I'll know more after bowling green plays lol.... Could be starting all over from scratch

Quacker, look at GB's avatar, tell me what you see, LOL. Iowa rolls the Hoosiers like King Charmin coming through town. Hawkeyes have beaten three top 25 teams, who's Indiana beaten???

As a former Hoosier player who's still somewhat connected to the program, I would ask you to tread lightly if you're backing IU this weekend or any other going forward. From what I've been told, the emotional roller coaster of the Ohio State game took a lot out of this team. Supposedly Wilson was given an ultimatum this year of bowl game or bust, and it seems to be coming up snake eyes for him.

The Rutgers game was pretty much their last stand mentally as a team, and they blew it. After starting 4-0, with a much improved Purdue team looming, the Hoosiers are once again staring a losing season square in the eyes. I played Iowa myself. Best of luck either way.
