I meant that little area until you hit Russell, yes south of the Airport is generally fine.
Simple rule for all those who don't live here. Almost invariably the further you are away from the core of the Strip and Downtown, the better the neighborhood. The very nicest parts of town are furthest from the action. Summerlin, Green Valley Ranch/Seven Hills, nicest parts of North Las Vegas, Lake Las Vegas, etc. all are well outside the core. Only area not so nice outside the core is due east of the Strip and even that area isn't all that bad. If you plan to move here, don't expect to live close to the action unless you like cheap apartments and questionable neighbors. Only reason why people live in these areas are so they can walk or take a bus to work. Buses don't really run into the nice parts of town, but are very convenient to the core.
