Yep, I agree with both of those selections. Tech has a stud at running back and two inexperienced QB's.....so you can count on a healthy dose of rushing attempts to run that clock.

i agree and btw...la tech = 10 sr. starters on defense. nevada's best rb Kretschmer = doubtful and three of there top four recievers from last year (in r.yds)are not on there roster any more. the only + for nevada is the return of there new/old coach but it wont be enough.

The Tech coaches are concerned over the the new coaching staff at Nevada. They don't have any idea what to expect on offense or defense, so expect Nevada to have some success early.

Additionally, Tech has switched to a 3-4 defense, so expect Nevada to have more success running the ball. Tech also returns their entire defensive secondary from last year.

From the RGJ:

But the X factor is senior Chance Kretschmer, who had arthroscopic knee surgery nearly four weeks ago. Kretschmer, the nation’s leading rusher in 2001, returned to practice about 10 days ago and though he looks healthy, Ault said his playing time is up in the air.

“He’ll see some time on special teams and he’ll get a few carries,” Ault said. “But we just don’t know what to expect out of him.”

That has been the company line for the last week and while there may be some truth to it, leaving the situation up in the air certainly doesn’t help Louisiana Tech prepare for the Pack offense. So it wouldn’t be shocking to see Kretschmer trot out to the running back spot in the middle of the first half and wind up with 15-20 carries.

Actually, the Tech coaches told me that they would rather see him play, because they would KNOW what they're getting.

This came from the Reno paper...so it wouldn't surprise me the beat writer would spin it to make it look better for the Pack.

Also is Tech running a 3-4 or a 3-3-5? I've heard both.

It's technically a 3-4, but in that conference, you had better have a nickel package ready.

pinny has nev +4.5 and oly has them at +6.5.pinnacle really wants the un-experienced bettors to take lat -4.5, and some will fall into that trap and pay -136 !!! lol.
i'm going with the sharper books lean (pinnacle)and hammering nevada +6.5 at olympic for the second half.
