Funny stat of the week but being a lifelong Lions fan (no laughing please) I have noticed this one a few times this year and checked into it today and confirmed it.

Week 1: Lions get crushed by the Falcons, who the following week (Falcons) go on the road play horribile and lose to Tampa Bay by double digits.

Week 2: Lions get steamrolled by the Packers, who the following week (Packers) at home in a dull effort lose to Dallas by double digits.

Week 3: Lions get hammered by the 49ers, who the following week (49ers) go on the road to play the Saints and look like crap and lose by double digits.

Week 4: was a bye for Lions

Week 5 Lions get manhandled by Bears, who the following week (Bears) go to Atlanta and now open a small road favorite.

Take it for what it is worth but it's something to think about. I seriously think these teams get Lions hangover. I havent bet Atlanta yet as I didnt think there was much value in the line but might be worth keeping an eye on throughout the week.

I have sadly watched every game this pathetic franchise has played for over 20 years and this is the worst stretch I have ever seen from them (and that isnt easy too say). I think everyone watches these blowouts and think these teams are better then they are when in reality they are playing an awful awful football team and then they come back down to earth the next week. If anything I think these beatings are weighing too heavy in the eyes of the linesmaker and public.

For a team to play the Lions, is like having a bye, so they are not in football readiness the next week

right on my point exatcly coupled with the fact people witness these beatings and get this false sense of hope about the Lions opponent that doesnt carry over the next week.

Though i will add, that its only a matter of time before the Lions WILL get a 7-0 lead in one of these games and hold on.

Their problem has been always falling behind 17-0 before halftime.

In a close game they could win if they could establish a running game.

Is their anyway the Lions will concede their Turkey game deal with the NFL and let a real team participate? Really disgusted getting them year after year.

Vikings play the Lions this week, next week the Vikings are at Chicago. If line is reasonable, I'll be on the Bears.

WEEK 14

DALLAS squeaks by Lions 28-27 -- then loses the following hosting Philly, 10-6

WEEK 13

MINN pounds the Lions 42-10 -- then wins the following week at SF 27-7

WEEK 12

GB pounds the Lions 37-26 -- then loses the following week at Dallas by similar 37-27

WEEK 11

NYG beat Lions 16-10 -- then lose the following week at Home to visiting Vikings 41-17

WEEK 10

ARZ pounds Lions 31-21 -- then win the following week at Cin 35-27

WEEK 9

DEN gets raked by Lions 44-7 (hahahahahahahahaha) -- then wins the following week at KC 27-11

WEEK 8

CHI loses at home to Lions 16-7 -- then has a Bye week

ALL IN ALL, not much to see here. But admittedly it never hurts to look for Angles.

I've seen more than a few such angles in past seasons of several sports including for one notable example the record of Phoenix Suns AFTER playing San Antonio.

Would need to chase down my stats, but last spring had it sitting at about one ATS win in about 15 outings.

Texans are a 9.5 to 10 point fav in this game. The Bangles should cover easily in this spot.
