Lets say you have team A team total ov 2.5. Team A is tied with team B 2-2 with 5 minutes left. Would you prefer team B scoring a goal, (besides the obvious), so that team A will be more motivated to score a goal?

No. I prefer it to go to overtime. More chance to win in OT or shootout, as opposed to being "motivated".

If a team is not motivated to score that goal for a WIN and 2pts then what makes you think them falling behind would be "motivation"? If anything I would think that with less than 5 minutes left it would take the wind out of their sails. Teams HATE playing "catch-up".

if its 2-2 i just hope the team I'm playing against doesn't score again. it may take overtime and a shootout but at least if the team you put the over on wins the game, you win the bet. i never want to play catchup. if its 2-1 and i have the team with 2 i usually hope that the other team ties it up or we get an empty netter. at least at 2-2 you know someone has to get a third

my point is, I think late in a tie game teams, many times, play conservative to get a point, 6 on 5 is not a bad thing when looking for a goal. definitely not a fan of shootouts

in most cases, no
i don't know how well the empty net stats are kept, but i usually go with pp to decide what are the chances someone scores with the empty net.
i generally consider SO a 50/50 proposition most nights so unless there's a reason i think they have a better shot than that to score with the extra man, i wouldn't count on it. and for the most part pp% for any team on a good night is around 25%.
but if team a looked real good in their last pp and you're sick of watching that game, then sure.
