With a black female LT Gov, the first black elected statewide in the history of the state:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Matt Bevin, a Republican political novice, wealthy Louisville businessman and Tea Party favorite, was elected Kentucky’s next governor on Tuesday and swept fellow Republicans into statewide office with him. The stunning victory heralds a new era in a state where Democrats have held the governor’s mansion for all but four of the last 44 years.

He also ran against Obamacare.

The Obama Presidency is the worst thing to happen to Democrats than any political event in my lifetime.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Just two years ago, Kentucky Democrats boasted a deep bench of three young stars who aligned to prove the party could still win in the conservative South with a message focused on the economy and jobs instead of abortion and gay marriage.

But Kentucky voters have now rejected all three, capped by a disastrous election for Democrats on Tuesday in which they lost four of the five statewide constitutional offices they held coming into the election, including the governor's office for just the second time since 1971.

"The degree to which the national party is out of step with mainstream Kentuckians has created an environment where it's extraordinarily difficult for a Democrat to win statewide," said state Auditor Adam Edelen, who lost his re-election bid to little known Republican state representative Mike Harmon.

Edelen's loss was particularly tough for Democrats, as he was seen as the party's likely candidate to challenge Republican U.S. Sen. Rand Paul in 2016. But Edelen's loss, coupled with Democrat Jack Conway's loss to Republican Matt Bevin for governor and Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes' 15-point drubbing to Mitch McConnell in the 2014 Senate race, leaves few obvious options for Democrats heading into the midterm elections.

Democrats stunned by Matt Bevin’s victory in the race for Kentucky governor blamed “Trump-mania” for the Tea Party candidate’s unlikely 53%-44% win over Democrat Jack Conway.

“Attorney General Jack Conway ran a strong campaign focused on the issues that matter to Kentuckians: good schools, good-paying jobs and economic opportunity,” said Elisabeth Pearson, executive director of the Democratic Governors Association, in an official statement on the results.

Pearson added: “Unfortunately, he ran into the unexpected headwinds of Trump-mania, losing to an outsider candidate in the year of the outsider. While Jack Conway came up just short tonight, his presence in this race strengthened the issues debate in Kentucky.”

God, maybe there is hope for 2016. Maybe people finally had enough of the economic malaise orchestrated by the democrats and their anti business anti success propaganda

Taxes and regulations do not grow the economy, they slow it down, we need that to matter

Yea, that's the state. If we said what you continuously say about this woman about a black woman you would call us racist. See how that works.

Yea, that's the state that is clearly rejecting everything the racist, anti American, anti religion, anti traditional marriage, anti everything traditionally American, whose name is Obama, supports.

What are you babbling about? Can you point out anytime I called someone racist here? the few times I have in the years I've been here, it's been called for. I hate to break the news to ya.....but there are some racists out there......denying that is just plain stupid.

As far as your moronic statements about Obama.....completely stupid and false but not surprised. The one good thing about you righties here....you always meet your very low expectations.

You call Republicans racist all the time. Do you know what all the time means?

Ya there are some racists out there and you are one of them. Anti-white.

You are also anti religion, anti traditional marriage, and anti traditional American.

Truth.

If it hurts, vit, you better reexamine your truth.

Or own your shit like a man. Because your view of America is just that, shit. Just like your leader, Obamas.

Thats completely untrue. I'm talking an outright lie. Show me where I call republicans racist. You are just making shit up.

Being for all religious freedom, including tolerant of those who don't believe in God, is not anti religion.

Being for equal rights for gays is not anti tradition marriage. I'm in a traditional marriage you fool.

Being for equal rights of minorities is not racism against whites. Me and my family are white for christ sake.

I own who I am and very comfortable in my beliefs, my actual beliefs, not the ones you just made up.

Please dont mention truth again when you make a post like you just did that's full of outright lies. Once again you meet your low expectation. Congrats on being consistently stupid.

Matt Bevin’s 53 percent to 44 percent victory tonight marks only the second time in 48 years that Republicans have won the Kentucky governor’s race. But Republicans also made history in another way. Bevin’s lieutenant governor running-mate, Jenean Hampton, is now the first African American elected to statewide office ever in the state’s history. Both Bevin and Hampton are Tea Party activists who have never held elective office. Hampton’s path certainly represents triumph over adversity. Born in Detroit, the 57-year-old Hampton and her three sisters were raised by a single mom who lacked a high school education and couldn’t afford a television or a car. But Hampton was determined to better herself. She graduated with a degree in industrial engineering and worked for five years in the automobile industry to pay off her college loans. She then joined the Air Force, retiring as a Captain. She earned an MBA from the University of Rochester, moved to Kentucky and became a plant manager in a corrugated packaging plant. Then she lost her job in 2012. She used her free time to start a career in politics and becoming active in the Tea Party. She ran a losing race for state representative in 2014 but won an early endorsement from Senator Rand Paul. She was tapped by Bevin to be his running-mate “I’m aware of the historical significance. People point it out … Really, I just never think about it,” she says.“We’re different races, different sexes, he grew up in the country, I grew up in the city. We represent a broad range of the Kentucky demographic.”

Kentuckians elected a black, female, Tea Party activist Lieutenant Governor.

But Republicans are racist, and hate women. And your favorite idiocy "the Tea Party is dead".

The good American, working people are taking their Country back. We don't care about race or gender. We care about character and ethics. We care about traditional American values. We soundly reject you and Obama and all your liberal drivel.

How is the average black man doing in your Democratic cities? I'll tell ya. He has become a complete drain on the society because your ridiculous Big Government policies taught him nothing about self respect or work or morality.

Bravo Kentucky.

if party enthusiasm / turnout swings one way or the other, polls will be less accurate

one thing pollsters need is a fairly consistent turnout percentage wise

so "enthusiasm", whatever that may be to different demographics, is extremely important
