TCU Going Down Hard

4 Players arrested now.

60 of 80 are expected to fail a drug test that was recently adminstered.
Going to be brutal...no matter course Patterson takes, he will be scrutinized.
I had thought TCU would be in the top 3 with a decently favorable schedule...different story now.

3 out of 4 players involved were starters. With the 4th player Tanner Brock (sounds like a Kentucky name) being a starter and leading tackler in 2010, but got hurt and sat out in 2011. Looks like he had a little too much time on his hands. Big setback for the team. This could send TCU back to the stone age. After this incident they may have to rename the school Texas Cannabis University.

I think your making a Hell of a lot bigger deal out of it than what it is. This is happening at 90% of the schools programs, really not that big a deal.....I can't believe the police did a 3 month investigation on a case this small

Tanner Brock told the guy who he was selling drugs too, which was a cop, he figured 60 ppl failed the test. No facts there at all, just what Tanner figures.....Tanner was Robert griffins teammates in high school. His brother played for tcu too

Tanner Brock said that casually to the undercover cop.
It's not confirmed-but everyone is going to be salivating over those results.

Lets see how this plays out first before we start blowing it off as just another players drug bust. A 3 month investigation sounds pretty serious to me though.

The big deal about this is TCU is suppose to be a "Christian" school. And since they haven't had to deal with an incident like this before, if more players were involved or have failed drug tests, a school like this may take extra steps to punish these players or in more liklihood just kick them off the team. Not good timing when your getting ready to join a BCS conference and need all of the depth you can get.

Those guys will be off the team if they are not already. Yea, its not great timing but imo Tcu is pretty well prepared for the big 12. It's not like Utah moving to pac12 in a rebuilding year for the utes. It's a big deal, but its not that big a deal if that makes sense

I think you may be right. Casey Pachall (qb) and Brock were roommates so I'm guessing he is prob gonna get caught in this before its all said and done. Been hearing rumors Patterson has been on Pachall to get his shit together or leave, I'm guessing he didn't get his shit together. It's not looking good around here

No. He is all about sticking around for the long haul. He enjoys being the underdog and proving people wrong too much to leave for a big school. Plus, His wife is a Ft. Worth native and Patterson is compensated and treated pretty well.

CBS Dallas reported last night that Patterson was tipped off by a recruit that he had a serious drug problem on his team. And that is what caused him to order the drug tests. I applaud Patterson for the quick action he took on this. The faster they get it behind them the better. Especially considering they are suppose to be a Christian school.

If this is true and only 5 guys failed the test then TCU is still running one of the cleanest progrrams in the country.....I doubt there is any more guys kicked off the team if this is true.....

GOSooners.....i heard about one of the recruits as well. I think it was prob the running back that switched at the last minute to Texas...Daje Johnson or something like that was his name, just my guess on who it was because it was about the same time period

Five TCU football players tested positive for marijuana and failed a Feb. 1 drug test initiated by coach Gary Patterson, a source told the Star-Telegram. Another 11 had trace amounts within the margin of error, the source said.
Marijuana was the only drug detected. Eighty-six players were clear.
Patterson ordered the tests after a recruit complained of drug use by players and turned down the Horned Frogs' scholarship offer, sources have said.
On Wednesday, arrest warrant affidavits quoted players as saying 60 to 82 players likely failed the test.
It's unknown whether the four players arrested in Wednesday's drug bust -- Tanner Brock, D.J. Yendrey, Devin Johnson, and Ty Horn -- were among those who tested positive, but Brock told an undercover officer that he failed the test, according to the arrest documents.
A second source, a former player, said that the numbers quoted in the affidavits were exaggerated.
"There was definitely a small group of guys using weed but nothing more than that," he said.
"I think weed in general is prevalent on college campuses. A lot of students look at it just like alcohol."
