Shields was a stud in the beginning of the season but he's starting to cool off. He's had only one decent outing out of the last five, but Petitte has been terrible as of late also. It's a tough call but you have to look closely on what Petitte has to say about his recent form.

The Yanks are 1-10 on the road vs Lefties BUT they face a right handed pitcher and they will beat him easily.-140 is the cheapest you'll get the Yankees so jump on it.:money8:

Seems like a HUGE setup to me after the books lost money with the AL winning the All-Star game

you're overthinking it pal. Just study the matchups, the quotes, and that's it. No conspiracy theories.

Yeah OK, NYY only -150 vs. worst team in the league. Nothing wrong there.

Matchups = Yanks
Public loves = Yanks
Quotes = WTF?

Line should be -180 at the very least

i'm not getting this either

since 1997:

PETTITTE is 11-1 when starting against TAMPA BAY with an ERA of 3.29 and a WHIP of 1.362.
His team's record is 13-4 (+4.7 units) in these starts.

SHIELDS is 0-2 when starting against NY YANKEES with an ERA of 5.68 and a WHIP of 1.263.
His team's record is 0-3 (-3.0 units) in these starts, which were against wang, karstens, and mussina

are there any rumors of pettite being hurt and close to the DL?

I think the number is right on to be honest. Tampa has a descent past history against the Yankees at the Trop......I am going to this game as well....leaning toward the over 9-.......thoughts anyone? Anyone else in the Bay area attending tonight's game?

tampa has owned the yanks over the past few years. andy has been rocked his last few starts and would have lost that game against LA if not for the yankees putting up 14 runs. the yanks were up 9-3 and LA cam back to tie it against andy and the pen

i also think arod and jeter were at the taping of the ESPY's on wednesday night in LA. if that is the case they have to fly back to the east with really no rest from the allstar festivities and the ESPY's. I think they probably would fly into tampa this morning

I'm not really sure why people make statements like this. Other than 2005, the Yankees have owned TB more than any other team in baseball.
2006: 14-5
2005: 8-11
2004: 15-4
2003: 14-5
2002: 13-5
2001: 13-6
Total: 77-36
Pettite: 11-1 vs. TB

Earlier in the season, Shields might tempt me at this price, but not with his recent form. The Tampa bullpen, already the worst in MLB, is without the only arm who has shown any consistency. If the Rays have a two run lead after 7 innings, the game is a coinflip.
The whole card is weak, but this is the biggest stay away game of the bunch.

remeber the juice that the yanks were laying in those losses....almost all of the loses in the past years were 2 or 3 to 1....teams can be way below .500 with that kind of juice and still turn a profit against a team

its funny.
for about the last month and a half, all you would read is people saying 'i cant believe how the yankees are still getting all this respect from the linesmaker and continuing to lay high juice despite being a .500 team'

... now, the lines are more reflective of their current form and everyone is saying 'why are the yankees ONLY laying this price'.

personally, i figured yanks would be in the -145/-150ish range.

shields hasnt regressed. he just hasnt been dominant. he's still very effective though. he goes deep into almost every start and he has a phenomenal K/BB ratio. will tampa win this one? im not sure. but theres good reason to think shields will pitch 6+ innings and leave the rays within 1 or 2 runs of the yanks.
