Monday night will probably be the last game for quite a while. I don't know how they can beat the incredible hockey of game 6 but these clubs just might.
Great possibility of a Lightning win and the Cup staying here for two years. And no hockey next year may in fact be a blessing for Tampa Bay.
Under the current salary structure, the market
limitations down here and Mr. Davidson's tight purse strings, forget about any dynasty thoughts. Marty, Brad, Vinnie and others would not be long down here. They would end up Rangers or Flyers or such....ugh, especially if they win the Cup down here.
Now if hockey should come up with a unique salary plan to keep players with small market clubs and halt baseballization of the sport, this great game would certainly become stronger in the US outside of the northeast.
This club down here has dynasty written all over it. The stars and supporting cast are all youngsters. Now it is up to hockey to see if we have a flash in the pan followed by a fire sale or a Cup contender for years to come.
The latter would forever cement the game in the psche of this community. More rinks would be built. More little Bubbas would learn to skate and score and the Buc's would no longer dominate the fishwrap and sports talk shows even in March.
The former will just hasten hockey's doom down here. But for now we have been given a treat to savor. LETS GO LIGHTNING!!!
