I was watching him pitch in A ball long before you ever heard of him, as he pitched for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, whose home stadium is ~5 minutes from my house.
This explains it, you just remember his stuff from A ball and not today.
I never said he was not hyped. I said that up until this point in his career he has not lived up to said hype and until the line catches up to his performance (or vice versa) I will continue to bet against him. Do you understand the concept of value? Remember the lineup he has behind him.
Of course I understand the concept of value, thats why I'll be backing Felix alot this year because he'll be undervalued due to his stats last year.
So laughable it's unreal. I'm sure 90% of GMs would choose Felix number 1 overall if they sat down and had a Fantasy-style draft over every pitcher in the league. Right.
Who would they draft? I've heard several GM's comment on Hernandez, his talent is off the charts and they know it. Sure if they are making a run at the playoffs this year they'd pick an established ace but for building a team its not even close.
I never said he won't reach his potential, just that he hasn't so far. He may, he may not. At this point, he has not lived up to the hype, hence the initial "he is not that good" as in 'he has not shown to be as good as everyone claimed."
He's had one full season in the majors. What did you expect in his first season? The guy became the youngest pitcher to start opening day today, you talk like he's had 2-3 bad seasons. Its not a question of reaching his potential, only when. You don't throw high 90's with sinking action and not become successful, its not possible.
Seriously, some of you take homer-ism to an embarrassing level. I act say that your as of now underachieving golden boy does not deserve to be a number 1 starter and you act like I raped your mother. Wow. Just
wow.
Homerism? lol, get one of these tech people to check my ip. I live just outside of Toronto. Yes my east coast Canadian bias for the Mariners is in effect here.
