I see you guys value the favorite in each ML pick. I just don't see more than 1 favorite losing SU. I may do a 4 team ML parlay and a 3 team round robin on the four as well. It seems like a solid play IMO. I've never tried this strategy before, what are your thoughts?

A number of sports gamblers, both beginners and veterans, fail to understand the true meaning of the point spread and the thought process that goes behind the making of the spread for each game. The sportsbooks are aware that the so-called wise guys (smart bettors) are going to wager more money on the average than a typical bettor, so the point spread is created with trying to beat the wise guys. If a sportsbook has the wise guys on one team and in the general public betting on the other side, they typically will be rooting for the public, with the knowledge that the public bettors are more likely to give back their winnings on another game same day.The next time you see a point spread, remember the person taking the bet doesn't necessarily believe the favored team is that many points better than the underdog.
The opening line is the first line created by the oddsmakers, which is then sent out to Sportsbooks. Most odds makers will have their own power system set up which will vary week to week from different in-game statistics and results. I personally use J.J.Bascus power system and my ratings. The odds makers value each team and use this value as a guide to calculate a beginning number on an upcoming game. Once a game’s opening spread is determined, the oddsmaker will make adjustments to that line odds. The ultimate goal is equally dividing the betting action, public perception and betting patterns must be taken into account. Sportsbook wants as close to equal wagers on each side because that will guarantee them a profit where the Sportsbook will collect the juice and pay out the winners.*(Juice In sports betting “juice” is the commission paid to the bookies on losing bets for the privilege of betting. For example, on a $110 football bet, the winning bettors collect $100+your $10 [$ 210]. If you lose [ I hate using that word//lLOL.] Books lock up $10 juice + your wager of $100 [ The extra $10 is the juice and the reason why you must win over 50% of your bets to profit with a point spread or the juice will eat you up. Offshore wagering picks up extra $5 on losing bets that are favorites in the betting line and gives you break underdog bets//lol/lol example +3 -105 and -3 -115 Could be higher in some cases depending on the game and wagering.

Ed Curd, who developed the $11 for $10 "juice" wager that today is the basis for sports betting in Las Vegas, and was one of the innovators of the point spread in the 1950s.Curd is considered by experts to be one of three books to have developed the point spread. The others were Billy Hecht and Charles McNei l & Mort Olsham's Gold Sheet, a top industry publication sold at newsstands everywhere in USA. In the mid-1950s, Hecht posted a single number spread. In 1957, Curd, a horse player, bookie and big time gambler, developed the system where players wagered $11 to win $10. The book keeps the $1 from the losing bettors, which is called the vigorish, or "juice." McNeil incorporated Hecht's and Curd's innovations into his own. This resulted in increased participation in gambling, creating a tremendous interest in sporting events far beyond fan support. So much so, newspapers started printing point spreads to satisfy reader demand, and still do. The purpose of the point spread is to make two teams seem equal for betting purposes even if one is far superior. The point spread, in effect, gives a touchdown to the underdog, points to tack on to its final score. That encourages betting on both teams

"Curd was a pioneer for sports betting in Las Vegas and elsewhere." He kept meticulous records of the players, their statistics and the games -- all of it done by hand long before there were computers,"As a young man, Curd worked in a stockyard and started his gambling career betting on high school games, according to the Gold Sheet. Curd's friends included late oddsmaker Jimmy "The Greek" Snyder, whose syndicated betting column began in the Las Vegas Sun, and late legendary Kentucky basketball coach Adolph Rupp.

On paper, the Broncos should win this game. Why? there is not a lot of rhythm in chemistry to the Colts offense line. This is why its big part of them not running the ball. Colts on the road against playoff teams of their last 3 road games against playoff teams lost all 3. defense has not stopped their offense opponents. Weather in the 40s at Denver will have Manning and company winning by 2 touchdowns or better. Even the Colts advantage in passing offense isn't very large. At any moment, Manning could hit Emmanuel Sanders or Demaryius Thomas for a game killing touchdown. Broncos finished second in yards and fourth overall in yards per attempt when defending the run, giving up just 3.7 yards per rush. This number is much better than the 19th ranked 4.3 yards per attempt the Colts gave up during the regular season. Looking at what the Broncos defense is doing to opposing teams on a per play basis has me beyond excited for this team. The only other defense in the ]NFL to finish in the Top 5 [in both average play per pass and per rush] would be the Seattle Seahawks. Considering they are the defending Super Bowl champions, that is elite company to be a part of this late in the season. There you have it. Suffice to say, I like our chances on Sunday Denver covering the spread and winning by 14 points or better.

Really enjoy your posts Harry. I was introduced to Ed and his wife Pauline back when I was in college and he was living in Kentucky by a good friend named Charles Welch. This was around the year 2000. They were very nice people. Always enjoy reading your posts Harry.
