Prices on the secondary market are falling faster than the snow in the New York-New Jersey area has this week.

At the time of this article, fans could get a pair of seats to the game for $1,595.00 each on StubHub with many of the cheapest seats in the $1,700 range. On SeatGeek.com, the cost is slightly higher, with the asking prices starting at $1600 per ticket.

This is a steady decline from what prices were prior to last Sunday'€™s AFC and NFC championship games. A cursory look by this writer last Sunday showed the cheapest tickets -- before the Broncos and Seahawks had locked up wins -- in the range of $2,500 per ticket.

Bleacher Report also noted:

As of Jan. 24, the cheapest ticket listed on NFL Ticket Exchange (the league'™s official resale site) was $1,779. That is $409 cheaper than the cheapest ticket on the site with nine days remaining before the big game last year and $809 cheaper than two years ago.

Furthermore, the cheapest ticket was $2,700 the day after the conference championship games ended, so prices are falling fast.

I hear ya but with it being the Super Bowl, I'm kinda surprised.

Although if they can't sell out yankee stadium, I guess I shouldn't be too shocked

I hope the NFL learns a lesson from all this.

What is the lesson, besides corporate CEO's don't want to sit in the cold? Yankee Stadium is sold out for 2 hockey games in basically the same weather. There will be record ratings if there was a snowstorm during this game. Pure genius by the NFL as they are guaranteed a 42-45 rating, and could go higher.

i know i would never pay the prices they are asking for a super bowl ticket let alone in a cold weather climate like new jersey.when i heard they were building a new stadium and wanted a super bowl i assumed they were going to put a dome type up,not the case.

I've been to met life stadium a few times and its a beautiful stadium but the parking is horrible unless you have a parking pass cause if you don't, you park in one of their rented lots, weather it be a school, office building etc then get bused closer and then you walk to the stadium,....pain in the ass.....and the stadium still has the swirling winds and it will get cold believe me,but the bottom line here is,i would never pay those prices anywhere to watch the super bowl

if I had a ticket. I would sell it. I went to Detroit for the Super Bowl and it was a nightmare with the bad weather. I know the game was indoors but the wait to get into the night clubs on Saturday night around the city was SOMETHING I WILL NEVER FORGET. FROZE MY ASS OFF WAITING IN LINE TO GET A DRINK

Detroit is not Manhattan with the sites, nightlife, restaurants and Broadway

and you have AC and the CT Indian Casinos within 2 hours

it's Denver vs Seattle, two smaller market cities from the other side of the country

Ive come to realize it isnt about the venue....it is about the teams. The "national" teams fetch the most money and im thinking there are just a few. Pitt, gbay, dallas.....maybe oakland, maybe not. When any of those teams are involved...the prices are very high. It was an expensive tix when it was pitt and gbay a few years ago......i guess maybe the bears are in there also.

NE, NYG, NYJ, Phil, Balt, Pitt or Wash and these are untouchable

even the Cowboys, Bears, Packers, Dolphins, SF would keep prices high

we have two small market teams that have set a record in terms of distance from location

PS: the weather doesn't help

Not so sure about the pats....when brady and bellichick go.....should be a different story for them. Those other you mention stay national no matter what.

every single patriots Super Bowl in belichick era was a dud, other than the one vs Philly because of eagles money. Both vs the giants were super duds.

I can't speak for that and won't bother researching, it doesn't matter

Pats fans would be all over NYC, that's the only thing that does matter

and Pats fans pay the 3rd most for season tickets, trailing only NYG and the Bears (I'm guessing that implies high "demand")

we're talking about this year's game which is being played in NYC

if I were talking about other games in other venues, other teams would move way up the list like the Cowboys

Being on the east coast....im sure it would be. I was talking about overall national teams that travel well everywhere in any era and the pats arent one of those teams.

why, exactly would the nfl care how much scalpers are charging?
Shows they underpriced their tickets. That's why teams are going to dynamic pricing now.

i did get offered two players tickets for $1800 each, 300 level.
