I personally love it when this thread comes up as I have adopted quite a few concoctions over the years from my fellow RX'ers.

Can't decide on what I will be making for the SB....Chili? Wings? Steaks?

Chime in with what you are making....and recipes of course.

Good idea for a thread.

I'm curious what people in different parts of the country (or world) have.

I think the wife is going to make me whip up my chili....perfectly ok with this as I enjoy making it. The only thing I would suggest is making it on Saturday and letting it meld for a day before serving.

  • 1.5 pound ground beef
  • 1.5 pound ground buffalo
  • 2 29-ounce cans of tomato sauce
  • 1 29-ounce can of kidney beans
  • 1 29-ounce can of pinto beans
  • 1 29-ounce can of white beans
  • 1 diced green pepper
  • 1 diced red pepper
  • 1 diced large onion
  • 2 four ounce cans of diced green chilies
  • 2 four ounce cans of diced jalaps
  • 1 29-ounce can diced tomatoes
  • 3 teaspoons cumin powder
  • 4 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Sometimes I cook the grease out of pepperoni slices and put some in too for flavor.

I usually try and make foods that are local to the teams in the SB. Not a seafood fan so I won't be doing that again this year. Instead I'll be throwing a few butts on the smoker for bbq and cuban sliders.

If you want to make a good steak coat it in a little olive oil, season both sides with kosher/sea salt and crushed black peppers. You can add more to it but with steak you don't need a lot of spices. Fire up the grill with charcoal staked on one side. Throw the steaks on the indirect side. After cooking indirect move them directly over the coal for a sear on both sides. You can also do this in the oven a 400 and then finish on a cast iron with the stove temp as hot as it can go. While the steak is cooking mix some soft butter up with garlic powder and parmesan. On the final flip of the sear throw a hunk of the butter on top and let it melt into the meat.

I got a couple of really good wing recipes but usually i bake them until crisp. Mix some butter with Franks hot to the desired spiciness. Mix in lots of minced garlic and parmesan. Once you think you've added enough garlic add some more. Toss the wings in the sauce and then pour whatever is left on top. Serve with ranch or blue cheese.

Not everything I make has garlic, butter, parm in it but for wings and steak I like to them this way.

The chili recipe might not fit into a crockpot. Count on dialing it back by 1/3 in order for it to fit.

1 can cream of chicken soup
32 OZ hash browns
1pint sour cream
1/2 cup milk
garlic salt
pepper
2 cups of cheddar cheese (1 1/2 in and 1/2 on top).

Stir all together and then cook at 350 for 45 minutes. Take out, put the 1/2 cheese on and cook for another 10 minutes.

Best potatoes you can eat.

I will be doing some experimenting with this over the week. Do you bread the wings before they are baked?

Yes, brown the meat with the cumin only. Then crock post and cook on warm. The longer the better. Based on the ingredient, this chili should taste very similar to Wendy's chili with added white beans. Enjoy.

Its a matter of preference. I like them better naked. If I were to bread I would coat the wings once with just flour, no milk or eggs or water. With a light coat they shouldn't get soggy.

[h=3]Cream Cheese, Sausage, and Rotel Dip[/h]3 8-oz packages of cream cheese
1 16 ounce tube of breakfast sausage (such as Jimmy Dean)
2 cans of Rotel, drained (Diced tomatoes and green chilies)

Cook sausage in a skillet. Combine sausage, cream, cheese and Rotel in a crockpot. Allow cream cheese to soften, then stir the dip together. Enjoy!

The little smokies, wrapped in bacon, rubbed with brown sugar. Bake until bacon is crispy. - GREAT!

Take cream cheese sit at room temp until it is soft. Mix in a package of dry ranch and finely chopped jalapenos. Spread on a tortilla and roll it up. Put this in the fridge for about 30-45 minutes. Cut in 1/2 inch pieces, so it looks like a pin wheel. Always a crowd pleaser!

Considering something both cities have in common:

1 Dunkin-Hines brownie mix
1 Qtr Oz sifted high grade ganja

mix and bake 20 minutes @ 400 degrees

yum
