MICHIGAN STATE -2
First of all, let me say how much I love these two teams and I cannot wait to see them play in the NCAAs, it is very likely I will play both of them early and often. I am of the group that feel the Big 10 will make a strong showing in the Big 10 this year. Me and Steve Lavin that is, definately not Vitale or Bilas (MSU, ILL, WIS, if someone else wins the Big10 Tourney too, they could shock someone) Both of these teams play tremendous defense and great half court offense, 2 things that are huge for the NCAA tourney.
Wisconsin is a strong, strong team and one I will likely have in my final 4 in my brackets due to their great all around team. If this team wouldnt have lost Alondo Tucker to a medical redshirt at the start of the season, they would be a top 5 team I think.
Wisconsin though has not played a strong schedule this year and they have only played 10 road games all year. They are a super 4-6 ATS in these games. Not too great. They were beaten by Northwestern by 18, Michigan by 12, and Illinois by 8 in 3 of their last 4, they also beat Iowa by 2, where they opened as 2 pt favs but moved to 4. (They did get backdoored bad that game, I had wiscy -2)
MSU is 7-0 SU and 5-2 ATS in the Big 10, those 2 losses are by a combined 2.5 points. MSU shoots the ball so well that they are hard to beat. If they get open, they will win. MSU has always had something that noone else seems to have, they always have that midrange game. This year Torbert, Anderson, Ager, and Hill to a lesser extent(Hill stays outside more this year it seems), in the past they have had Richardson, Chapell, numerous others in the last 4 or 5 years, I swear MSU has this type of game that noone else does and it leads to that high percentage, the midrange game is a shot that the entire country has forgotten how to shoot, but MSU can stroke it.
MSU can wrap up a share of the conference title with an impressive 13-3 record in the Big 10. I would feel comfortable laying 4 in this.
Unranked Favorite angle over ranked underdog also at play here
