Well the coin toss has been Heads 5 straight years. Aren't we due for Tails?
Through the history of the Super Bowl there has never been a run of 5 straight until now. There were 4 straight Heads from 90-93, then four straight Tails 98-01. This is the only 5.
I gotta go with Tails on the large side I know it's a coin toss (Pun Intended) but aren't the odds favoring tails?

Nothing like the rush of cashing before the game even starts. Of course if you lose you just tell yourself your coming back.

They might use a coin with Seattle on one side and Denver on the other.? No mistakes that way.

The odds are still 50/50! Last year's coin toss results have no bearing on this year's results!

The coin doesn't remember which side it landed on before. The odds are still 50/50.

I always laugh when I'm in a casino and red has come out 10 times in a row on roulette. People see it and pile chips on black thinking they have better odds. That's how casinos are built.

I hear what the guys are saying with every flip being 50/50 but isn't the law of average that in 100 tosses the coin will come up roughly 50 of each give or take a few? If that's the case after one side gets lopsided the law of average is saying some of the other side is comin.

Yes you could have said the same thing after 4 straight and I actually did. Not here on the RX but I did play Tails last year (and lost).

If you like the action you need one or the other and there's limited info on capping a coin toss so I'm rolling Tails.

My plan will by thwarted if they go with a Seattle/Denver coin and don't call it Heads and Tails!

I've bet on tails the past two years because of this. How did I do? I understand it's still a 50/50 play but sooner or later the tails will come. Tails/huge play. If not, heads can't hit 7 in a row.

The probability of a coin landing heads or tails is 1/2. Every time. It is an independent event and each time you flip it does not impact the probability of the next coin toss.

HOWEVER

The probability of a coin landing heads 6 times in a row is (1/2)*(1/2)*(1/2)*(1/2)*(1/2)*(1/2) = (1/2) ^6 = 1/64.

There is a difference guys.

Just took a quick peek at the Heads or Tails history... 23 Tails, 24 Heads in Super Bowl history.

Why not just bet one of your buddies and save the juice. Paying someone juice to take money on a coin flip is just retarded.

Go a little-easy on the size of the bet Johnny.....the "high" of the coin-toss (win) is short-lived and loss lingers. Good Luck

You mean to tell me if the coin toss gets to 12 heads in a row and you had to pick the next flip you'd have a hard time deciding what to call?

Yes.

You don't seem to understand that no matter how many times heads comes up in a row, the probability of the next flip being tails does not change.

Even though 4 other posters have pointed this out.
