Stephen Nover's NFL Sunday Night Crusher
Under 45

Lost in the glare of the recent brilliance of rookies Kareem Hunt and Deshaun Watson is that these are two conservative teams that operate at a slow pace, run the ball a lot and have good defenses. The Texans just could have the best defense in the NFL with J.J. Watt back healthy. This is a sell low on a total that is higher than it should be based in part on the Texans putting up 57 points on the Titans last week and Hunt's fast start. Watson is going to be up-and-down. Justin Houston is getting back to his dominant pass rushing skills of two years when he had 22 sacks. Marcus Peters is a shutdown cornerback. I find Bill O'Brien to be one of the most conservative coaches in the league with a play not-to-lose attitude. On the flip side, I see Alex Smith reverting back to his old check-down, game-manager way of playing especially going against this caliber of defense on the road. Hunt took advantage of a Patriots defense that was far worse than anyone could imagine to put up awesome statistics. He'll find things much rougher here.

Almost EVERY wise guy/hack is on/leans the Houston Texans: Matt Holt, Fezzik, Essler, RJ Bell, WAR, Lawrence, Hitzges, Cowherd, Gold Sheet, top Supercontest, etc etc etc.

Its weird that it seems so often to be the case - if everyone loves one side - you take the other side is often a winner.

I went through and looked at total number of touts who were on one side or the other - here's the data from week 5 - I disregarded anything that was like 6-8 or 7-9 type close ones:

As of the latest tally post I found:
it was 14-8 clev over NYJ - jets won straight up.
Pitt was 8-4 - and pitt got blown out
miami was 12-1 (miami covered)
dallas was 29 to GB 6 - (GB won straight up)
houston was 28 to KC 12 (KC destroyed Houston besides late comeback failed)
SO the sides - that had a lot of touts on one side this week went 1 win 4 losses.
I didn't look at totals because so many other factors.

It's a simple concept. If it's a wide consensus towards one side of a play (spread or total), majority of the times it ends up as a loser. Vegas algorithms would not distribute a line so simple that everyone gets to eat. Same time, if you initially liked that side as well and see that happening.. either don't play it or close your eyes and play the other side and take the outcome as it is.

*** FOR ALL THE WAYNE ROOT FOLLOWERS; ***

Feel free to correct me if my “charting is off” however I BELIVE it’s quite accurate:

SEPT : 0-4 = *PINNACLE PLAYS*
OCT : 0-2 = *
PINNACLE PLAYS*

For all the “FOLLOWERS” I think it’s a good time to cut this guy lose.....

For all the “FADERS” IMO, keep fading until he proves he’s past this slump.....

I’m quite sure he will EVENTUALLY bounce back, but who knows when, IF ANYONE WITH A LITTLE COMMON SENSE, decides to take the path of “THE DUE FACTOR” I assure you, YOU WILL GET BURRIED DEEPER THEN YOU ARE. In the game, that is the STUPIDEST angle I’ve ever heard of. ITS ALWAYS BEST TO RIDE OUT THE STREAK A CAPPER IS ON.

Root and Lawrence are predictable. Home underdogs.....no need to think about it. And college road favorites this year seem to be winning everything
