Saturday. An improvement over a dreadful Friday, but oh those damn Brewers…… 7-6, +1 unit
Being up about 43 units makes a 4 unit play reasonable here. Not desperate to win my losings back, not looking for a big day to end inter league play, just like this game a lot.
Arizona - 1. 4 units. Tonight on 5 Dimes it is very cheap if you ask me. On the -1, it is about $100 bucks to win 98 or 97. The D-Backs are the short term Texas Rangers of the first month(at least at home). They are crushing the ball at an alarming rate. Like Texas they know how to hit in bunches and score runs. In their last 16 games, they have scored 100 runs. At home, in their last 10 home games they've scored: 10, 6, 7, 9, 14, 4, 8, 9, 6, and 10 runs. Confidence breeds confidence and Garza, a fly ball pitcher who is not exactly happy in Chicago and giving up 25 runs in his last 33 IPs, is their next victim. Garza has also been going about 5 or 6 innings a start, will give way to that infamous Cub bullpen.
In the last 2 weeks, the Cubs have only really got to Zach Stewart, who is a dreadful impostor of a pitcher, and Ian Kennedy, whom has had a difficult season himself. The cubs are only hitting .220 off of lefties and Miley is one of the new aces in the NL. His slider has become almost unhittable, has great command and a low 90s fastball with good movement. His control is outstanding and has only yielded 3 HRs this year- which is remarkable for their ballpark. He has also pitched in Coors Field and Milwaukee- 2 other bandboxes. He can go deep in ball games, but the D-Back bullpen is improved if not really good. They won't need it- this game will be over before the 7th. Also, Miley hits so well it's like having a DH.
