GAME: Atlanta Braves (42-44) at Washington Nationals (51-36)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 09 - 1:35 PM EST
WHERE: Nationals Park, Washington, District of Columbia
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Atlanta Braves are feeling more comfortable when they visit Washington this season and can creep closer to the National League East-leading Nationals with another road victory against them Sunday afternoon. The Braves have taken four of six in the nation's capital in 2017, including Saturday’s 13-0 rout, after a stretch in which they lost 23 of 25 games at Nationals Park.

“I think right now we have confidence wherever we play,” Braves right fielder Nick Markakis told The Atlanta Constitution after going 3-for-5 with a homer and four runs Saturday. “That’s half the battle is having confidence. You look at our lineup up and down, it’s no easy slouch.” Rookie left-hander Sean Newcomb hopes to help the Braves move within 7 ½ games of Washington and he is expected to face righty Joe Ross, who has been on a strong run of late. The Nationals were shut out for the first time this season on Saturday and went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position to lose for the 10th time in 19 games after taking a commanding 11-game lead in the division. Bryce Harper has hit safely in all seven games during July for Washington, but has homered in just one of his last 17 contests - going deep twice at St. Louis on July 2.

TV: 1:35 p.m. ET, FSN South (Atlanta), MASN (Washington)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Braves LH Sean Newcomb (1-3, 3.58 ERA) vs. Nationals RH Joe Ross (5-3, 4.86)

Newcomb looks to rebound from his worst outing in the majors when he allowed seven runs on 10 hits over 3 1/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to Houston. The 24-year-old University of Hartford product strung together four straight quality starts to open his major-league career, permitting five runs (four earned) on 18 hits over 24 1/3 innings combined. Newcomb faces Washington for the first time and pitched six scoreless innings against San Diego in his only road start.

Ross is 2-0 in his last three outings while yielding five runs combined and boasts quality starts in five of his last six appearances to solidify his spot in the rotation. The 24-year-old California native, who is 1-0 with a 5.68 ERA in two starts against Atlanta in 2017, has given up at least one homer in 11 of his 12 starts and 15 overall. Matt Adams is 4-for-7 versus Ross, who is 1-1 with a 5.85 ERA in four career games against the Braves.

WALK-OFFS

1. Washington All-Star 1B Ryan Zimmerman needs one homer to become the franchise’s all-time leader, passing Vladimir Guerrero (234), but hasn’t gone deep in 21 games.

2. Atlanta CF Ender Inciarte, who is also headed to the All-Star Game, has hit safely in seven straight games (10-for-33) and 18 of his past 19.

3. Nationals All-Star 2B Daniel Murphy is 8-for-17 with three doubles, seven RBIs and two runs scored over his last four games.

GAME: San Diego Padres (38-49) at Philadelphia Phillies (28-58)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 09 - 1:35 PM EST
WHERE: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The San Diego Padres are going into the All-Star break strong with wins in five of their last six games. The Philadelphia Phillies, who host the Padres in the finale of a three-game, first half-closing series on Sunday, are trending in the opposite direction with five consecutive losses.

The Phillies (28-58) own the worst record in the majors and robbed themselves of a chance to reach 30 wins before the break by dropping a 2-1 decision to San Diego on Saturday - their second straight one-run loss in the series. Philadelphia failed to score more than three runs in any of the last five contests and nine of the last 14. The only team in the majors with fewer runs scored in the first half is the Padres, but San Diego is getting key hits from Austin Hedges in the series to do just enough to scrape by the Phillies. Trying to keep Hedges from recording a go-ahead RBI in the third straight game on Sunday will be Jerad Eickhoff while Trevor Cahill goes for the Padres.

TV: 1:35 p.m. ET, FSN San Diego, CSN Philadelphia

PITCHING MATCHUP: Padres RH Trevor Cahill (3-2, 2.96 ERA) vs. Phillies RH Jerad Eickhoff (0-7, 4.93)

Cahill (shoulder) came off the disabled list on Tuesday and scattered four hits and two walks over 4 1/3 scoreless innings at Cleveland. The California native was making his first start since May 13 and was limited to 85 pitches against the Indians. Cahill is 2-4 with a 3.40 ERA in 11 career appearances - five starts - against Philadelphia.

Eickhoff will get one more chance to earn his first win before the All-Star break when he comes off the disabled list on Sunday. The 27-year-old allowed one run in six innings against Arizona on June 17 but could not come away with the win in a game the Phillies went on to lose 5-1, and he hit the disabled list for the first time in his career with back stiffness days later. Eickhoff earned a win in each of his two previous starts against San Diego, yielding a total of four earned runs in 13 innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Phillies 1B Tommy Joseph doubled in each of the last three games.

2. San Diego CF Manuel Margot is 1-for-17 with six strikeouts in the last four contests.

3. Philadelphia 3B Maikel Franco homered in three of the last six games.

GAME: Baltimore Orioles (41-46) at Minnesota Twins (45-42)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 09 - 2:10 PM EST
WHERE: Target Field, Minneapolis, Minnesota
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Baltimore Orioles have been waiting all season for Manny Machado to break out of his slump and continue being the superstar he was last season, and he might finally be turning the corner. Machado will try to stay hot and give the Orioles some momentum heading into the All-Star break when they close the first half by visiting the Minnesota Twins on Sunday.

Machado saw his average dip to .215 after going 1-for-5 in the series opener on Thursday but belted a pair of home runs in a 4-for-5 effort in Friday's 9-6 setback and stayed hot by going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI on Saturday. Machado's effort on Saturday led to a 5-1 win that snapped a five-game slide and gave Baltimore a chance to earn a series split. The Twins were hoping to take advantage of the Orioles in their quest to get back on top in the American League Central but instead fell off offensively on Saturday after totaling 15 runs in the first two games of the series. Minnesota will try to get the bats moving on Sunday against Orioles righty Ubaldo Jimenez, who opposes Kyle Gibson.

TV: 2:10 p.m. ET, MASN2 (Baltimore), FSN North (Minnesota)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Orioles RH Ubaldo Jimenez (3-4, 6.64 ERA) vs. Twins RH Kyle Gibson (5-6, 5.82)

Jimenez is struggling to find any consistency and followed up a dominating start at Toronto on June 29 with a dud at Milwaukee on Tuesday. The Dominican Republic native scattered two hits over eight scoreless innings against the Blue Jays but was reached for five runs on six hits and three walks in five frames versus the Brewers. Jimenez was not at his best against the Twins on May 22, when he served up six runs and nine hits in four innings.

Gibson is steadily decreasing his ERA and allowed three or fewer earned runs in each of his last four outings. The Missouri product earned his first win in that span on Tuesday, when he limited the Los Angeles Angels to two runs and five hits in 6 2/3 frames. Gibson went up against Jimenez on May 22 and earned a win despite allowing six runs on seven hits and four walks in five innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Orioles RHP Chris Tillman was reinstated from the paternity list on Saturday and is available out of the bullpen on Sunday.

2. Minnesota 1B Joe Mauer (back) is expected to return after the All-Star break.

3. Baltimore 2B Jonathan Schoop made his first career start at SS on Saturday after the club designated INF Paul Janish for assignment.

GAME: New York Mets (39-46) at St. Louis Cardinals (42-45)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 09 - 2:15 PM EST
WHERE: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, Missouri
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The up-and-down New York Mets already guaranteed themselves a losing road trip and a record at least six games under .500 at the All-Star break. The Mets will at least try to take some good feelings into the break with a win when they visit the St. Louis Cardinals for the rubber match of a three-game series on Sunday.

New York (39-46) won seven of eight to flirt with the .500 mark before dropping four of the last five, including a 4-1 setback on Saturday that marked the third time in the last five games that the offense failed to generate more than two runs. The Mets went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position and left six on base in Saturday's setback after going 3-for-11 while pulling out a 6-5 victory in Friday's series opener. The Cardinals (41-45) bashed four home runs in Friday's loss and added another on Saturday as Paul DeJong highlighted the first four-hit game of his career with a solo blast. Attempting to keep St. Louis in the park on Sunday will be Mets left-hander Steven Matz, who goes up against Cardinals righty Lance Lynn.

TV: 2:15 p.m. ET, SNY (New York), FSN Midwest (St. Louis)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets LH Steven Matz (2-1, 2.12 ERA) vs. Cardinals RH Lance Lynn (6-6, 3.87)

Matz is coming off consecutive scoreless outings in which he totaled 10 hits allowed in 14 innings at Miami and Washington. The 26-year-old surrendered a total of five home runs in his two previous starts but kept the ball in the park while posting eight strikeouts in the last two. Matz is making his first start against the Cardinals and is 9-4 with a 2.98 ERA in 18 career road outings.

Lynn can't seem to find the dominance that he showed in the first two months of the season but was marginally better in his last two starts, allowing a total of five earned runs in 11 1/3 innings against Arizona and Miami. The Ole Miss product was ripped for 14 runs over 10 1/3 innings in his two previous turns. Lynn is 2-3 with a 2.97 ERA in seven career games - five starts - against New York.

WALK-OFFS

1. Mets OF Brandon Nimmo was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Saturday with a partially collapsed lung.

2. St. Louis LHP Brett Cecil ran his streak of scoreless appearances to 14 with a perfect inning on Saturday.

3. New York 3B T.J. Rivera is 13-for-29 during an eight-game hitting streak.

GAME: Los Angeles Angels (44-47) at Texas Rangers (43-44)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 09 - 3:05 PM EST
WHERE: Globe Life Park in Arlington, Arlington, Texas
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

While the Texas Rangers routinely have flexed their muscles as the weather has gotten warmer this summer, it has taken until the week leading into the All-Star break for the results to show up in the win column. The Rangers eye a fourth straight victory and look to extend their streak of multi-homer efforts to a season-high six games on Sunday, when they attempt to complete a three-game home sweep of the Los Angeles Angels.

Texas has belted a major league-high 62 home runs since the beginning of June and hit at least one in all but one of its 30 games in that span, getting two more in Saturday's 5-2 triumph as Adrian Beltre and Drew Robinson each launched a two-run blast. The Rangers (43-44), who rank third in the majors with 135 homers, improved to 30-13 this season when they record at least two and have outhomered the opposition 47-20 over their last 21 contests. Unlike its American League West rival, Los Angeles (44-47) has struggled to find offense of late and dropped three games below .500 for the first time since May 13 after scoring three runs or fewer for the eighth time in 11 contests. On the plus side for the Angels, Andrelton Simmons notched his second three-hit performance in five games Saturday to raise his average to .328 since May 12, while Yunel Escobar homered and is batting .356 over his last 17 games.

TV: 3:05 p.m. ET, FSN West (Los Angeles), FSN Southwest (Texas)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Angels RH JC Ramirez (7-7, 4.73 ERA) vs. Rangers RH Yu Darvish (6-7, 3.56)

Ramirez lost for the third time in four trips to the mound Tuesday in Minnesota, giving up four runs over five innings. The 28-year-old Nicaraguan has allowed at least four runs in three of those turns but has been markedly more successful on the road (6-3, 4.04 ERA) than at home (1-4, 5.44). Carlos Gomez is 5-for-10 and Beltre is 2-for-5 with a home run against Ramirez, who matched a season high with nine strikeouts en route to a victory at Texas on April 30.

Darvish endured one of his worst outings in 4 1/2 seasons in the majors Tuesday against Boston, surrendering career high-tying marks in runs allowed (seven) and hits (11) across a season-low 4 1/3 innings. The four-time All-Star is 0-3 with a 5.64 ERA in his last four turns, although he held the opposition to a total of two earned runs and nine hits over his previous 13 frames. Darvish has won both of his starts versus the Angels this season (1.38 ERA), striking out 20 across 13 innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Beltre moved into a tie with Hall-of-Famer Carl Yastrzemski for 38th place on the all-time list with his 452nd career home run on Saturday.

2. Los Angeles OF Mike Trout (hand) doubled and scored two runs Saturday in a rehab appearance with Single-A Inland Empire.

3. Texas SS Elvis Andrus (paternity leave) returned from a two-game absence and finished 2-for-4 with a run scored.

GAME: Chicago White Sox (38-48) at Colorado Rockies (51-39)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 09 - 3:10 PM EST
WHERE: Coors Field, Denver, Colorado
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Colorado Rockies have alternated wins and losses over the first six contests of their seven-game homestand and look to continue the trend Sunday, when they host the Chicago White Sox for the rubber match of their three-game interleague series. Colorado began the stretch with a victory over Cincinnati but fell to 3-3 with Saturday's 5-4 setback against Chicago.

Nolan Arenado and Gerardo Parra each drove in a pair of runs, with the latter delivering an RBI double in the sixth inning and a sacrifice fly two frames later to forge a 4-4 tie. Parra has recorded six multi-hit performances in his last 10 contests and is 6-for-10 with three RBIs over his last three games. Chicago, which received a tiebreaking solo homer by Tim Anderson in the ninth inning on Saturday, hopes to have Avisail Garcia back in the lineup for the finale as it attempts to break even on its six-game road trip. The All-Star outfielder missed the first two games of the series due to a sprained middle finger on his right hand.

TV: 3:10 p.m. ET, CSN Chicago, ROOT Rocky Mountain (Colorado)

PITCHING MATCHUP: White Sox LH Carlos Rodon (1-1, 1.59 ERA) vs. Rockies LH Kyle Freeland (8-7, 4.09)

Rodon will be making his third start of 2017 after missing the beginning of the season with bursitis in his left biceps. The 24-year-old Floridian lost his debut against the New York Yankees, yielding three unearned runs while issuing six walks, but was in fine form at Oakland on Monday as he allowed two runs and four hits while striking out 10 in 6 1/3 innings. Rodon never has faced Colorado but is 3-2 with a 4.73 ERA in six career interleague starts.

Freeland has lost each of his last three starts, including a setback against Cincinnati on Tuesday in which he surrendered five runs and eight hits over 5 1/3 innings. The 24-year-old rookie from Denver has served up at least one homer in nine of his last 10 outings after yielding just one blast over his first seven turns of the season. Freeland is 3-0 with a 2.95 ERA in three interleague starts but will be meeting Chicago for the first time.

WALK-OFFS

1. The only member of the Rockies to have faced Rodon is 1B Mark Reynolds, who drew a walk in both of his plate appearances.

2. Chicago sent RHP Michael Ynoa outright to Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday - two days after designating him for assignment.

3. Colorado optioned RHP Antonio Senzatela to Triple-A Albuquerque and recalled LHP Zac Rosscup, who was acquired from the Chicago Cubs on June 26.

GAME: Miami Marlins (40-46) at San Francisco Giants (34-55)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 09 - 4:05 PM EST
WHERE: AT&T Park, San Francisco, California
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

When Johnny Cueto takes the mound Sunday for the San Francisco Giants in the finale of their three-game series against the visiting Miami Marlins, he’s sure to draw the attention of more than a few major-league scouts. Cueto could be one of several players on the move prior to the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline as the last-place Giants begin to look toward next season.

Christian Yelich and Marcell Ozuna combined to go 4-for-8 with three RBIs in Saturday’s 5-4 triumph as the Marlins won for the fourth time in five games. Justin Bour belted his 20th home run and Miami’s trio of late-inning relievers - Kyle Barraclough, David Phelps and A.J. Ramos - staved off the Giants’ comeback. The disappointing Giants are 34-55 and 26 games out of first place in the NL West but received a spark Saturday from Brandon Belt, who recorded two doubles and has collected 16 RBIs over his last 17 contests. Jae-Gyun Hwang has registered two hits in his last 17 at-bats while starting in place of Eduardo Nunez, who remains out with a hamstring strain.

TV: 4:05 p.m. ET, FSN Florida (Miami), NBCSN Bay Area (San Francisco)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Marlins RH Jose Urena (7-3, 3.43 ERA) vs. Giants RH Johnny Cueto (6-7, 4.26)

Urena continued to impress Tuesday against St. Louis, allowing two runs and three hits with seven strikeouts over five innings in a 5-2 victory. “He’s the type of guy that just grips it and rips it,” Miami catcher A.J. Ellis told reporters. “He’s trusting his stuff more, and it shows.” The 25-year-old has yet to record an out in the seventh inning of any of his 12 starts but has earned the victory in six of his last nine outings.

Cueto was scratched from his start Thursday in Detroit because of an inner ear infection but has recovered in time to take the place of struggling veteran Matt Cain, who has dropped seven straight decisions. The 31-year-old Cueto notched the victory in his last outing on June 30, allowing three runs over five frames in a 13-5 win over Pittsburgh. Cueto is 4-2 with a 4.64 ERA in nine career starts against Miami but has had trouble containing Giancarlo Stanton (6-for-16, two home runs).

WALK-OFFS

1. San Francisco C Buster Posey is 19-for-52 during his 14-game hitting streak against the Marlins.

2. Miami is 16-7 at AT&T Park since 2011.

3. The Giants placed Austin Slater on the 10-day disabled list with a right groin injury and recalled fellow OF Mac Williamson from Triple-A Sacramento.

GAME: Oakland Athletics (39-49) at Seattle Mariners (42-47)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 09 - 4:10 PM EST
WHERE: Safeco Field, Seattle, Washington
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Seattle Mariners attempt to conclude their homestand on a high note while the visiting Oakland Athletics look to win their second straight series when the American League West rivals clash on Sunday. Seattle fell to 1-5 during its seven-game string at home when it dropped a 4-3 decision on Saturday, which was Oakland's second victory over the first three contests of the four-game series.

Jean Segura will be disappointed to see the first half of the season come to an end, as he has gone 13-for-22 during a five-game hitting streak and has recorded five multi-hit performances - including three four-hit efforts - over his last seven contests. Oakland, which took two of three from the White Sox in Chicago early in the week, saw Ryon Healy deliver an RBI ground-rule double in the top of the ninth inning on Saturday to snap a 3-3 tie. Healy finished 2-for-4 after going hitless in six at-bats over the first two games of the series after missing three with back spasms. All-Star Yonder Alonso has reached the 20-homer plateau for the first time in his eight-year career after going deep for the Athletics on Saturday while Marcus Semien belted his first shot of 2017 after hitting a career-best 27 last year.

TV: 4:10 p.m. ET, NBCSN California (Oakland), ROOT Northwest (Seattle)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Athletics RH Daniel Gossett (1-3, 6.23 ERA) vs. Mariners RH Felix Hernandez (3-3, 5.04)

Gossett escaped with a no-decision against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday after surrendering five runs over five innings for the second consecutive start. The 24-year-old rookie from South Carolina served up a pair of home runs in each of those outings but has issued only three walks over 26 frames in his five major-league turns. Gossett, who will be facing Seattle for the first time, is 1-2 with a 6.91 ERA in three road starts.

Hernandez will be making his fourth start since returning from a shoulder injury that sidelined him for nearly two months, with all four taking place at home. The 31-year-old Venezuelan struggled against Kansas City on Tuesday, yielding six runs - five earned - on six hits and four walks over six innings of a loss. Hernandez has enjoyed the most success of his career against Oakland, going 23-9 with three complete games and a 2.68 ERA in 44 starts.

WALK-OFFS

1. Athletics 2B Jed Lowrie is 8-for-24 over his last six contests.

2. Seattle OF Jarrod Dyson homered on Saturday to end his 16-game drought.

3. Oakland designated C Ryan Lavarnway for assignment and optioned SS Franklin Barreto to Triple-A Nashville while activating C Josh Phegley from paternity leave and recalling RHP Chris Smith, who gave up three runs over six innings of a no-decision Saturday in his first career start.

GAME: Kansas City Royals (44-42) at Los Angeles Dodgers (60-29)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 09 - 4:10 PM EST
WHERE: Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw has gone more than two months without tasting defeat and takes a nine-game winning streak into Sunday's finale of a three-game set against the visiting Kansas City Royals. The red-hot Dodgers look to complete a three-game sweep of Kansas City and wrap up a perfect 6-0 homestand entering the All-Star break.

Rookie Cody Bellinger belted a tying home run in the bottom of the eighth inning before drawing a bases-loaded walk in the 10th in Saturday's 5-4 victory as Los Angeles improved to 25-4 in its last 29 games and became the first team to reach 60 wins. Kershaw is making a strong case for his fourth Cy Young Award in seven years, leading the majors with 13 victories and last losing on May 1. Kansas City entered the series as one of the hottest teams in the majors but is trying to avoid its first three-game losing streak since dropping its final nine in April. Royals catcher Salvador Perez homered and drove in a pair of runs Saturday to extend his hitting streak to eight games.

TV: 4:10 p.m. ET, FSN Kansas City, SportsNet LA (Los Angeles)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Royals LH Danny Duffy (5-4, 3.51 ERA) vs. Dodgers LH Clayton Kershaw (13-2, 2.19)

Duffy was just starting to settle into a groove before landing on the disabled list due to a strained left oblique that sidelined him for just over five weeks. The 28-year-old returned to the rotation Tuesday and picked up the win after limiting Seattle to two runs and five hits over 5 2/3 innings. Duffy gave up 27 homers last year, but he has not allowed one in nine of his last 10 starts.

Kershaw won his sixth consecutive start in overpowering fashion versus Arizona on Tuesday, permitting two hits over seven scoreless innings while racking up 11 strikeouts. Over his last three starts, Kershaw has not surrendered an earned run and yielded a scant nine hits in 20 innings. No current Royals player has more than four at-bats against Kershaw, with Eric Hosmer 2-for-4.

WALK-OFFS

1. Perez has 14 RBIs in his last 11 games to push his season total to 57; his career high is 79 on 2013.

2. The Dodgers, winners of 17 of 18 at home, are 51-18 since Bellinger was promoted from the minors.

3. Hosmer is riding a 14-game hitting streak and has multiple hits in five of eight contests in July.

GAME: Cincinnati Reds (38-49) at Arizona Diamondbacks (53-35)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 09 - 4:10 PM EST
WHERE: Chase Field, Phoenix, Arizona
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

One of the most surprising stories in the major leagues this season, the Arizona Diamondbacks may need to focus their attention toward the wild-card race before long. The Diamondbacks have fallen 6 1/2 games behind the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West as they head into the rubber match of their three-game series against the visiting Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.

Arizona fell for the fourth time in five games and was held to three hits in Saturday’s 7-0 loss, while Los Angeles has taken command of the division by going 24-4 since June 7. Paul Goldschmidt, Jake Lamb, Robbie Ray and Zack Greinke all are headed to the All-Star Game to represent Arizona, which leads the NL wild-card race by three games but has question marks in the bullpen, where closer Fernando Rodney blew two save opportunities in the past week. The Reds are in last place in the NL Central but saw All-Star Joey Votto crush his league-leading 26th home run on Saturday in support of rookie Luis Castillo, who pitched into the seventh inning. Leadoff hitter Billy Hamilton went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, giving him a league-high 37 for the season.

TV: 4:10 p.m. ET, FSN Ohio (Cincinnati), FSN Arizona

PITCHING MATCHUP: Reds RH Homer Bailey (1-2, 12.66 ERA) vs. Diamondbacks LH Patrick Corbin (6-8, 4.81)

Bailey is looking to build on his encouraging start on Tuesday, when he limited Colorado to one run and eight hits over six innings in an 8-1 victory. The injury-plagued 31-year-old has made just 11 starts for the Reds over the last three seasons while recovering from three surgeries. Bailey allowed four runs - three earned - in one frame in his last start against Arizona on Aug. 26 and is 0-1 with a 4.24 ERA in four career outings versus the Diamondbacks.

Corbin had his streak of three straight quality starts come to an end Tuesday, when he yielded three runs over 4 2/3 innings in a 4-3 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 27-year-old has gone 2-2 with a 3.41 ERA, 32 strikeouts and eight walks over his last five starts covering 29 innings. Votto is 1-for-11 with four strikeouts against Corbin, who is 1-1 with a 3.48 ERA in six career games (five starts) versus the Reds.

WALK-OFFS

1. Goldschmidt is batting .331 with eight home runs and 28 RBI over his last 32 games.

2. The Reds are 19-11 at Chase Field over the last nine seasons.

3. Arizona MGR Torey Lovullo said LF Yasmany Tomas (groin) suffered a setback in his recovery and remains out indefinitely.

GAME: Detroit Tigers (38-48) at Cleveland Indians (47-39)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, July 09 - 8:05 PM EST
WHERE: Progressive Field, Cleveland, Ohio
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Corey Kluber and Michael Fulmer were each selected to the American League All-Star team but neither right-hander will be available to pitch in Tuesday's game against the National League. That's because both standout pitchers will be on the mound Sunday night when the Cleveland Indians host the Detroit Tigers in the finale of a three-game series.

Kluber is in the midst of a dominating stretch for Cleveland, eclipsing the franchise record previously held by Hall-of-Famer Bob Feller by striking out at least 10 batters in five consecutive starts in one season. He struggled in a pair of early-season matchups against the Tigers, splitting a pair of decisions while sporting a bloated 10.61 ERA against them. Fulmer was the 2016 AL Rookie of the Year, but he labored in four starts against the Indians last season, posting a 1-2 mark and 6.98 ERA. Since winning five of the first seven matchups this season, Detroit has lost four straight meetings to Cleveland to fall nine games behind the first-place Indians in the AL Central.

TV: 8:05 p.m. ET, ESPN

PITCHING MATCHUP: Tigers RH Michael Fulmer (8-6, 3.20 ERA) vs. Indians RH Corey Kluber (7-3, 2.85)

Fulmer won his second straight outing after losing his previous three by limiting San Francisco to three runs on five hits and a walk, although his 10-start streak of not allowing a home run came finally to an end. It marked the 14th time in 16 starts that Fulmer has allowed three earned runs or fewer. Michael Brantley is 3-for-3 against Fulmer, who owns a 3-4 record in seven road starts despite a sparking 2.16 ERA.

Kluber lost for the first time in seven starts since returning from the disabled list, coming out on the short end of a 1-0 decision to San Diego despite striking out 10 in eight innings. He has yielded seven earned runs over those seven outings, recording 74 strikeouts over 51 frames. Miguel Cabrera (22-for-52), Victor Martinez (14-for-41) and Justin Upton (5-for-13) have combined for 12 homers off Kluber.

WALK-OFFS

1. Indians 1B Carlos Santana, activated from the paternity list Saturday, is 6-for-11 with five doubles in his last three games.

2. Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera has hit safely in five straight games.

3. Indians 2B Jason Kipnis was forced to leave Saturday's game after suffering a right hamstring injury.

PREDICTION: Indians 4, Tigers 3
